@Butler, Sat. Jan. 27, 2:30pm, FS1/570AM

I'm pretty happy with my decision to not click away from Virginia-Duke until after it ended.

Owens the only guy on our team who played a decent game and he just got hurt - hope he's ok. Next 3 games against Xavier, Duke & Nova - this year is way tougher to watch than year 1 since expectations were minimal that year.

You're in North Carolina, why not enjoy some real basketball?

Things didn't break right for us this year. I can be patient.

But, for the love of God.........please defend the F@c&ing 3-point shot!

If this team goes 0-18 or 1-17, then it's more than just "things didn't break right for us this year."

Fair point. But for my immediate sanity, I would like to see us contest shots (not just wave an arm) from the arch.

I believe our opponent has shot over 40% from three in every conference game.

Just don't understand how we can be so bad ? I keep saying that but it just keeps me shaking my head. I think a top HS team would be able to be us

Yeah, not sure why I keep punishing myself watching these games. I did switch off to watch end of Duke & UVA today and always get to one or two Davidson games in person. They are always a well-coached team.

I didn’t go to this game, thankfully. Not for nothing, but this is the team’s second straight no show here. You guys know I’ve been a fan and poster, but when my favorite team comes to a building 15 minutes away once a year and I no show for the first time?

Ha! I'm used to them closing out poorly (if they even attempt at all) on shooters or the "hot hand."

For your own sanity, buy a ticket at Mackey and take in a Purdue game. They are special this year and you will see a squad composed of (mostly)3 star recruits that plays hard and has grown together. Unlike the drama and turnover surrounding this woebegone program.

There are only two things that will keep Duke from scoring 115 on us:

1) Coach K likes Mullin/has respect for what the program was
2) There is a buffer game between their loss today and our game

Feel for these kids. They have been playing hard and have been competitive in most games. Today, they looked like they were ready to surrender.

Ponds, in particular, looks like he needs a pep talk. Looks weary from having to carry the load and all the attention he is getting from opposing defenses,

Deficiencies aside, I feel badly for Mullin. Post game comments becoming Normesque. in fairness, what else can he say.

I don't feel bad for Mullin... He's getting ~$2M for this and is responsible for the lack of players, qualified coaches, cohesive system etc.... aka the finished product on the floor. Maybe he should consider donating some of that salary back.

I don't exactly know what a bruised thigh is, and why Ponds has had it so long, but he's running around enough to think that it can't be too bad. Bruised thighs does cause missed free throws, jacked up 3's and unmakeable layups under the basket.

Team was lost from tip-off. That has nothing to do with tired bodies.

This program looks totally lost; flashbacks to the Norm years. Next year is put up or shut up time. No excuses left.

I am tired of hearing about short bench and commenters keep talking about it. The lack of depth is an n coaching staff. This is your 3rd season which means 3 recruiting classes. Ponds is the only sophmore contributing. My mind is made up. Time to move on from yet another failed coaching experiment. Nobody coming in next yr is a program changer and that ncludes transfers & frosh

That's unfair. Mullin's 'first' recruiting class was last minute desperation, lost Sampson the 1 Lavin commit, failed on Diallo who slipped to KS, and headcases Obekpa and Jordan defected--a mess, and not Chris' fault. Our lack of depth is partly on Chris' dime--but not totally, since we had to rely on the transfer option to rebuild the team. The only 'loss' in the roster from last year that I deem may have been preventable, and regrettable is Sima's.
LoVett's decision to quit on the team not the Staff's fault.
And I strongly disagree about next year's recruiting class. First, we don't need 'game changers' as much as we need kids that can contribute and provide Big East quality depth.
Dixon will likely start next year; far savvier posters than me believe the kid is BE caliber. Keita should provide depth from the get-go. Brooks has presence underneath and should help greatly. Williams is athletic and will help. Trimble will likely improve. Roberts is a work-in-progress with great potential, and if Diakite is healthy, he will contribute in time.
As is, we may go 8 - 9 deep next year, and get better as the year progresses.
Barring defections, we should be very competitive next year in the Conference.
IF Mullin fails with that roster, then repost your comments.
We are St. John's.

Bottom line is the staff allowed us to play this season with a very thin squad. Anyone could predict that an injury would likely ruin the season. Lovett got hurt and apparently decided he had enough and is gone. So where is the outside shooting? Gone. Next year Ponds may leave if he hasn't already. He gets double and tripled teamed, of course he is frustrated. This season is over and it is an embarrassment .
