BRACKETOLOGY, RPI, SOS

St Joe's with a bad loss at home against LA Salle. They should still be safe but better win at least one in A-10 tourney.

Why would saint joesephs be so highly positioned for the tourney??....this was a bad loss to la salle at home today.....they better get knocked into first four out after their game today....they have a couple decent wins against Dayton..a bubble team..and beat vcu and umass I think.....but after that....I dunno....I don't see it

That St. Joe's loss was a lot worse than our last loss to Xavier, could see big drop in RPI in my opinion.

not to mention they lost to Creighton...got blown out by villanova....lost big to st Louis.....nope...I don't see them deserving to be in over us....they are 21-10 overall in a weaker conference......

Saint Joseph's: The Hawks were in the field heading into the week, sitting several spots ahead of the last four in/last four out cutline. At the time, they had won 17 of their last 20 games and were pushing for a share of the Atlantic 10 title. After losing at home to La Salle, though, things can get worrisome. They have lost two in a row, slipping to 11-5 in the league, and lacking momentum for the conference tournament. The RPI is in the 30s and they have wins over VCU and Massachusetts, but it's not a lock at-large resume. They are just 5-7 against the top 100, with a triple-digit non-conference SOS and a sub-100 loss. They need at least two wins in the Atlantic 10 tournament to feel confident heading into Selection Sunday.

Penn State looks like a bad team today. Worse than DePaul.

Well then, I stand corrected. Thought their hand full of top 50 RPI wins, and their RPI currently in the 30's would be enough.

There's a ton of noise out there from media types who have nothing better to do than throw their nonsense around.

Borzello fills out his bracket just like you and me. He doesn't have a clue regardless of what he mouths off.

Guys live Lunardi live, sleep and breathe "bracketology".

Nebraska on the cusp of a big win. Leading Wisconsin by eight w/2:44 remaining in the game.

By the way, Nebraska's coach called a timeout with them having a ton of momentum. I've stated before that coaches have called timeouts many of times when they're team seem to have mo' on their side. That is a discussion for another day.

Wisconsin now has the ball. Let's see what they can do in the next 2 1/2 minutes.

FWIW Creighton blew out Nebraska. Just shows how good our conference really is. I don't understand while in every other conference the middle beats each other up and they are all great and its parity and in the BE we are all just bad.

So called experts say Gtown still has a shot with an 8-10 BE record because of their out of conference. So that means Gtown, a team that had marque wins out of conference could not even go .500 in the BE.

On another note, does anyone know why Borzello is so. anti-SJU? He has been negative about us all year, just curious if I am missing something, since I never understood his hatred of us

The Nebraska win is a big blow... this is a Nebraska team ahead of us in the seeding department according to Lunardi and they defeated a Wisconsin team which beat us and I had a shot at a top 2 seed. Wisconsin win would have been good for their RPI and our SOS.

We might need 2 wins this week or get some more help.

Those "experts" are just blowing hot air. The Big East's 3rd rated RPI begs to differ.

I agree with you. I think a lot of it has to do with ESPN/FS1 coverage, and how more people see other conferences. I also think any ESPN expert is not really allowed to talk favorably about our conference. In the end of the day, Xavier through Gtown in our conference would all be .500 or better teams in every conference except the Big 12. The fact that the A-10 and the PAC12 are considered better and deeper is embarrassing. I personally think we get in if we beat Providence.

I'm pretty sure ESPN has a bias against the Big East because of the FS1 deal. You rarely ever see BE highlights on SportsCenter unless it's McDermott going off for 40 points. They showed more of him last year when he wasn't in the BE. You also never hear about Nova on ESPN even though they have been a top 10 team for a while and could get a 1 seed in the tournament.

I've been seeing this more and more lately too. I've been hard on Lavin for doing it, but apparently there's a school of thought that advocates setting up your defense or something, to maintain a run. I'd like to hear a former coach like Pearl or Greenberg explain the theory behind it.

Jerry Palm says that the Big East tournament games are considered a home game for us. I thought they were neutral, can anyone confirm?

It's not true when their are all sorts of fans there. However we are familiar with the baskets. But we have stunk there for the last 14 years or so in the Big East tournament.

If anyone saw college game day yesterday morning on espn you would have seen a "who did better in realignment" conversation between the Big East or the AAC. They all agreed the AAC is better and Jay Bilas said the Big East is in big trouble in the future. They are so completely biased against the Big East, it's embarrassing. No one bothered to mention the fact that we have more top 150 recruits coming in than any conference except the ACC and they have 50% more schools than we do.

Plus the AAC will lose Louisville next year and other schools may bolt at a chance for a better situation.

Seems to me that if we win Thursday, we are in. If Providence wins on Thursday, they are in. I could be wrong, but I think it's that simple.
