BRACKETOLOGY, RPI, SOS

Any reason to worry about Wisconsin GB? Beat Virginia and Tulsa, close lose to Wisky, decent conference.

Nah, even though before the game their RPI was mid 50s, their SOS is 146 and they just had a bad loss at home to a team with an RPI around 150. They don't have many quality wins. To me they're the same case as Belmont.

G'Town #52
Xavier #53
PC #54
SJU #58

Thursday is the equivalent of a play in game.

I guess it depends where you get your RPI rankings, as ESPN has it:

Gtown 55
Xavier 48
PC 53
SJU 57

I think Xavier is 1 win away from locking it up. The other 3 teams have a little more work to do.

Creighton, Nova, Xavier are in, right now. Providence is on the bubble as we are. We win against the Friars and I think we look good but, a 2nd round win helps. Xavier could fall in the Selection process if they lose 1st round. G'town, to me, is out of it, despite some upsets against top 50 teams. 8-10 BE Record and less than 20 wins hurts the Hoyas.

Beating Providence is a must!

I think your assessment is correct. My only thing is (assuming we beat Providence and Georgetown goes out early), would they really only let in 3 teams from the third best rated RPI conference in the nation?

Exactly! That's what I was telling my friends. If we beat Providence, and Xavier loses... We will be only team amongst the 10-8's w/ a 21st win. So...you would think that would be enough. Even if Xavier wins, big east has to be sending 4 teams. ( i don't think G'town has a chance. 8-10 kills them). And aside from all that, we would 12-3 in last 15 if we win Thursday.

Kenpom has us at 38 and solidly in the tournament.

He also has Utah at 32. I don't think they are necessarily in the tournament. Also, although both probably in, Tennessee at 12 and Oklahoma State at 19 have quality wins but have resume warts as well that don't match those high rankings. They are more like tournament 9 or 10 seeds than 3 to 5 seeds that equate to those high rankings.

How much weight can we give his rankings? As of today:

38. St. John's
43. Xavier
48. G'town
53. Providence

I shouldn't say none because I'm sure some members of the committee look at it but it really shouldn't have any affect on selection. Kenpom is more of a measure of your future success, not really having much regard to your wins or losses. It's really based on how well you played in those wins and losses.

it would help a lot of FSU and Nebraska lost today...

EDIT: didnt realize FSU/CUSE was on already...Cuse doing us a favor.

Would also be huge if our old friends Penn State could take down Minnesota

@NYPost_Brazille: In latest update Joe Lunardi has St. John's as first four out. Trending upward. #sjubb

Jerry Palm says that the Big East tournament games are considered a home game for us. I thought they were neutral, can anyone confirm?

I am starting to not like this Palm guy.

Minnesota came out hot early. Up 20. Pitino has them attacking Penn State. Not sitting back like we do when we get ahead.

Well he technically said it was a road game for Providence. I dont know if its possible for it to be a road game for them and a neutral game for us
