BRACKETOLOGY, RPI, SOS

Dont know how much credibility they have when it comes to bracketology but Rothstein & Borzello still both saying we need to win conference tourney to get in

Rothstein has been on this for a couple of weeks now. He has zero insight and just talks nonsense.

Borzello is just a joke.

Both are company men.

Anyone who thinks we need to win it all needs to have all credibility stripped from them when it comes to the brackets. These morons really think we can win three games in a row away from home against top 80 RPI teams (one likely being top 10) and still not make the tournament with 22 wins and a top 30 SOS? Unbelievable. We can play our way into a freaking eight seed by running the table...maybe higher.

I hate Rothstein, he takes stats off a piece of paper and acts like he knows what he's talking about. The other day, he tweeted "stop Ethan Wragge, stop Creighton, only had three points in loss to Georgetown"

That's not even true, Wragge has only scored in double digits in 5 of creightons last fifteen games, and they have gone a comfortable 11-4 during that stretch.

But of course the only game Rothstein has probably watched of Creighton this year is the first nova game, so he assumes he's a consistent asset.

"Stop McDermott, stop Creighton" is more true, obviously.

Wragge is the most easily defended player in the country. He has like 5 non-three point attempts all season. He lives and dies from the attention teams pay to McDermott.

I don't see us getting an 8 seed in that scenario but anything is possible.

For what it's worth, and I know TIS has posted this site a few times, I'll go with guys who have data over two knuckleheads sitting in a studio any day. The link below says 80% chance we get in if we win 3 more.

That sounds about right to me. Consider we'd have beaten Marquette on the road, followed by a top 50 RPI team in Providence/Xavier, followed by a top 10 RPI team in Nova. that would certainly pad the resume in addition to the RPI and SOS boost.

At this point I'm just hoping we make the tourney, not worried about the seed. Although if we make the tourney would prefer not to have a play in game(round 1).

Dream scenario: We get after Marquette on Saturday and earn the 5 seed.

That sets us up against Xavier in the quarterfinals and Villanova in the semis. Those 3 games mean we would a) sweep Marquette and b) avenge our 4 losses to Nova and Xavier. Can't think of a better way to make us a lock without needing to win the entire conf. tourney.

I for one, believe we have a better chance to beat Nova with a healthy squad than we do against Creighton.

Wouldnt we play Prov in the 4-5 game if they lose at Creighton? I'm confused

Yep. If we win tomorrow and Providence lose to Creighton, then we'll play Providence in the 2nd game (4th vs. 5th) next Thursday.

I thought providence holds tie breaker over Xavier?

Nope. It'll come down to the record between us, Xavier, and Providence. Xavier would be 4-1, while Providence would be 2-2, and the Johnnies would be 1-4.

@Title_BU: The Big East has passed the Pac 12 and is now the 3rd-rated conference in the country.http://t.co/aLqPamR4tB

4. PAC 12
5. ACC
6. SEC
7. AAC
8. A10
9. MWC

Boom!

4 teams are getting in from the Big East. There's a possibility a 5th team makes it (not really sold on that happening, though), depending on what transpires tomorrow and during the conference tournament next week.

Unless, G'town or us do something spectacular in the BE Tourney, like winning the Championship. The BE teams in the NCAA will be Nova, Creighton, Xavier and Providence.

Us and the Hoyas will be reasonably high seeded NIT teams.

IF we do not make the dance, the responsibility rests with the Coach and Players for a very mediocre year. And, losing to Nova and Xavier twice..It's that simple, however harsh the scenario plays out. The DePaul loss and Providence at home loss, were also contributors.

We all expected more from this team but, it hasn't happened. The stretch of victories from the disaster start was exciting and made the season competitive and not a disgrace, that it might have been..

A miracle could happen in the tourney and wouldn't that be something. We'll see. The final regular season standing will place us about mid tier , as forecast by many pre-season polls.

I think the idea of being the most talented team in the BE has vanished . That's the reality and the facts.

I'm confused. The AAC appears to have five teams ranked in the top 20, no? How can they be ranked 7th, and ahead of the Big East, with 2 ranked teams?

Question: If we lose and Georgetown wins, where do we finish in the Big East? Do we have to play in on Wednesday if we finish as the 7 seed?

Yes unfortunately.

AAC average RPI: Top 5 - 28.6, Bottom 5 - 185

BE average RPI: Top 5 - 34, Bottom 5 - 113

All their strength of schedules suck too because they get to play that bottom 5 2x each.

because the AAC also has Rutgers, USF, UCF and Temple who are absolutely terrible. Houston is pretty bad too. Outside of the top 5 teams that conference has nobody while we have 7 out of 10 teams fighting for an NCAA birth

Read somewhere that in almost 50 chances this year, a team in the bottom 5 of the AAC, has beaten a team in the top 5 only 4 times.

Thnk about that. It helps the top wrt ncaa tournament selections, because there are no bad losses there.
