The biggest one in Jersey (besides gravy/sauce--we have a lot of Italian-Americans here) is Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. Generally the line of demarcation is somewhere in Central Jersey maybe near New Brunswick (not geographically central, but Jersey is all effed up with "North", "Central" and "South"--some people argue there is only North and South, no Central).I could have stopped after sauce/gravy, but there are so many more food arguments out there.
Am sure this will change but
As the saying goes...? "It's impossible to beat a team 3 times in a season..." lolWins over the Hall, UConn and Marquette would be quite the story considering our 0-6 record against them. I say why not.
Weren’t Taylor Ham and Pork Roll two offensive linemen on one of the old Philly Eagles teams? The biggest one in Jersey (besides gravy/sauce--we have a lot of Italian-Americans here) is Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. Once you get anywhere near South Jersey and the Philadelphia-centric parts it's all pork roll and in North Jersey it's all Taylor Ham.
People actually take sides over this, it's crazy. If you order Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel in South Jersey two things happen: The bagel will be crap compared to a North Jersey bagel, and the counter-person will correct you and say you mean "pork roll" (in a nasty Philly kind of way!)
South Jersey fans of the Flyers, Phillies Sixers and big time Eagle fans and you get their crappy newscasters, second tier Philadelphia reporters.
It's definitely Pork Roll, being from Central Jersey. The biggest one in Jersey (besides gravy/sauce--we have a lot of Italian-Americans here) is Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. I grew up in Brooklyn, I can't remember what we called it there. It's definitely Pork Roll, being from Central Jersey.
Spent 16 years in central Jersey in my 40s and 50s and saw both taylor ham and pork roll on local breakfast sandwich menus but as a guy who spent his first 43 years in Queens I always went with traditional bacon & egg or ham & egg.The biggest one in Jersey (besides gravy/sauce--we have a lot of Italian-Americans here) is Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. Received a message today from Red Storm Sports that another email from Ticketmaster will arrive "soon" inviting me to accept my tickets. So any day now...Historically I received them like the Monday or Tuesday of the tournament, but in the modern day maybe they'll show up in the Johnnies or Ticketmaster account earlier - but almost certainly not until after the Georgetown game (last game of the regular season).
We will sweep both games, Nova goes 1-1. We get the tiebreaker and play The Hall 230pm Thursday, beat them and get UConn Friday. Let's GO!I think things are pretty much set, but if Nova wins both we get bumped to the DePaul line. And if Providence loses both they possibly get shuffled out of Georgetown game.
Sounds good to me. Revenge tour!We will sweep both games, Nova goes 1-1. We get the tiebreaker and play The Hall 230pm Thursday, beat them and get UConn Friday. Let's GO!
Sounds like a Joizy thing.I worked in a Deli for three years in Queens in the mid 1970s and never had one customer ask for pork roll. Not many asked for Taylor Ham either, I think the same piece must have been in the case the entire time.
I am not saying I don’t agree, but this is nothing new, some pundit for whatever felt like pointing it out this year maybe because they actually felt for the first time in a long time, we actually have a shot to win it and/or make the NCAA Tournament.I think it’s total BS that they count these games as home games for us totally unfair. They act like it is such an advantage for us that the tourney is played in MSG meanwhile we haven’t won the BET in 24 years.
