Assistant Coaches Arrested /Book Richardson is One

We are definitely involved and will without a doubt be part of the investigation. That is not guilt by association, just part of the process. I don't know this from any inside information just from logic. At one time we were the purported leader for Nassir Little. To date he is the biggest dollar figure recruit "$150k-200k" were the figures quoted. Bowen at L'ville was $100k So maybe Miami is not as big a splash as targeting Pitino but it will still be a big deal eventually.

The fact that we were not in his top 5 bodes well for us as well as the fact that we lost out on recruits that went to (Alkins) or otherwise chose AZ (Ferguson) and Slice's friend at Auburn...

FYI, there are now rumblings we are involved in the investigation.

Be careful putting stuff out there (here) about "rumblings" of SJU being involved in the investigation. It could be that the staff was in on Little. But they were one of the first, and saw potential before he blew up.

And remember, despite being in on him from the beginning, we still didn't even make his final cut.

Besides, until more loathsome schools (Syracuse, Uconn, cough, cough) are on a list like this, I won't worry too much.

Are you hearing this from the school or the feds?

He's hearing it from Avon. Rumor surrounds an assistant coach delivering Avon products to a transvestite recruit with the promise to only wear Avon makeup once he got to the NBA.

For a minute there, I thought this was about a former poster Avon (something), son of Sam.

LOL... I am feeling pretty confident that because of the money that was involved and unless their is some deep pocketed Alum who I am not aware of we are not too deeply involved here. Of course, we could be mentioned as the school who consistently lost out on recruits and has suffered years of struggle.

Keeping in mind that this FBI investigation is very specifically based upon the last 2 years, It would (almost!) be comical if we were charged with recruiting violations based upon the struggles. I'm sure there had to be a few good for-hire power forwards available for this season.

What happens to the kids that took the money? Are they ineligible? Can they go pro immediately? What happens to the kids that didn't take the money? Are they still eligible? Can they transfer or go pro?

One thing's for sure: they'll be hearing from the IRS. :)

But the money didn't come from the schools/coaches. It came from the shoe companies and advisors/managers that were promised these kids would play for their shoe company schools and then sign with them when in the NBA.

I'm not worried too much either. In regard to Little, was told based on the timeline here there is more emphasis on the other players mentioned by Paul Massell opposed to Little given the semi-recent turn of events with him. And was told that our name was being bounced around, not that we are a "target". It's the nature of the business.

Feds are most certainly drooling at what will be a very interesting superseding indictment in this case.

I'm unsure. But you'd think that if it's proved they took $$$'s to commit, they'd be declared ineligible for college hoops.

So you mean to say that a 1099 was not given out?

PS - LJSA I admire your naivete.

I know cheating is rampant. I just find it odd that one of the best basketball minds of all time would need to cheat to this extent.
I would think that since everybody or almost everybody is cheating and paying money even the elite programs think they have to cheat to keep up. As an example it would be like should I play for Cal or Ricky for $150,000 or coach K for free (assuming for example purposes that K wasn't cheating).

"assuming for example purposes that K wasn't cheating"

Coach K has manipulated the "system" in more legal ways. You average Duke freshman graduates near the top of their class. Duke, following Kentucky's lead, has "facilitated" academic admission to student athletes no where near qualified to carry a Duke course load. Hence Coach K now has been targeting 1 n dones regardless of their HS transcript. UNC has been doing it since the Kenny Anderson days. Most state universities could care less if you are a functional illiterate. Schools like Ole Miss, LSU, Kansas, Oklahoma, and many others support the recruiting process by rubber stamping their admission. UNLV set that bar and raised it to an art form in the modern era. Everyone just followed suit.

Who is our shoe company? Isn't it Under Armour? I am not really sure. We should give the money back as its not like 5 stars were landing here.

Nike is now being investigated. This will get ugly.

They've been under investigation. I wonder how well Coach Cal is sleeping.

I don’t know how long they have been under investigation, but the FBI just subpoenaed their biggest AAU circuit and the company today.

you know ku Duke uk and the elites are monitoring this, I can't wait till the fbi nails are asses also.

I'm just sitting back really enjoying this. Those dirty rotten cheating bastards.

You knew this could not be just one sneaker company.
Each of the biggies ala Adidas, Nike...have steered 5 stars *****
And we know the list of "Universities" will expand.
And the names of more student athletes will appear.

i just hope nothing is coming our way, we've been through enough crap over the years. We need an actual break once in awhile and this could be it. Im nervous though because we were involved in the recruiting of some of these guys.

Think of it this way, we didn't sign any of them! No federal charges as we didn't wire any money. LOL
