Assistant Coaches Arrested /Book Richardson is One

FYI, there are now rumblings we are involved in the investigation.

Are you hearing this from the school or the feds?

He's hearing it from Avon. Rumor surrounds an assistant coach delivering Avon products to a transvestite recruit with the promise to only wear Avon makeup once he got to the NBA.

For a minute there, I thought this was about a former poster Avon (something), son of Sam.

Barksdale. One of many screen names for Chris.

"These allegations come as a complete shock to me," Pitino said in a statement released by his lawyer. "If true, I agree with the U.S. Attorney's Office that these third-party schemes, initiated by a few bad actors, operated to commit a fraud on the impacted universities and their basketball programs, including the University of Louisville. Our fans and supporters deserve better, and I am committed to taking whatever steps are needed to ensure those responsible are held accountable."

This is priceless. Sounds like OJ.

I know cheating is rampant. I just find it odd that one of the best basketball minds of all time would need to cheat to this extent.

When you watch Batman do you find it odd that the Joker robs banks?

Still can't believe UNC, Kansas and Kentucky not being mentioned. Oregon / Nike connection as well.

LOL... I am feeling pretty confident that because of the money that was involved and unless their is some deep pocketed Alum who I am not aware of we are not too deeply involved here. Of course, we could be mentioned as the school who consistently lost out on recruits and has suffered years of struggle.

But the money didn't come from the schools/coaches. It came from the shoe companies and advisors/managers that were promised these kids would play for their shoe company schools and then sign with them when in the NBA.

Wrong!
The coaches involved received money under the table AND facilitated the brokers funneling money to parents and, ultimately, the player, so he could drive that BMW that was leased in mom's name. When a kid listens to a broker (Sid Wilson) and goes to the school paying the broker, the kid is also in on it, as is the school. The shoe companies pay to represent the school and most pay a portion of the coach's salary. Everyone is in on it.

If I were Kevin Willard (a Pitino disciple) I would be a little nervous right now.
The Tiny Morton/Whitehead Delgado/Antigua development always had the smell of some fishy.

The way Lavin backed off Whitehead abruptly said there were other Variable$ in play.

This sort of endemic corruption is a natural evolution of the rise of ESPN, AAU basketball, and the sneaker companies. No surprise that the big football schools lead the way here. They have been paying football players, on a wider scale, for years. Too much money creates urgency to win, at any cost.
The saddest aspect to all this is that many of the alums and fans of these schools are only angry that their schools got caught, not that they participated.

Someone of the other board mentioned Kansas, South Carolina and UCLA. Oregon and Baylor are gimmes. Half the ACC, half the Big 12, the whole SEC. Thank god we're in the catholic conference. The question now isn't who's dirty, it's how stupid the dirty people were:

"I've been telling you your whole life, Don't talk on the fucking phone, and now you understand, huh?.. Don't worry, I think you gotta good chance of beating the case."

The way Lavin backed off Whitehead abruptly said there were other Variable$ in play.

Lavin didn't back off Whitehead billtheliar. Lavin said in the press that the only reason Whitehead didn't pick SJU was because Whitehead knew Lavin was getting fired. And in fact Whitehead picked SH the day after meeting with Lavin.

"After Whitehead visited St. John’s on Wednesday, the Red Storm seemed to be the preferred destination. Then things began changing Wednesday night and hit a fever pitch on Thursday morning. St. John's and the Under Armour connection were on one side, but Seton Hall countered by reportedly offering Tiny Morton, Whitehead's high school coach, an assistant coaching position. An old-school New York power move. In the end, the Red Storm got outdueled by Seton Hall. Whitehead announced his commitment at a press conference on Thursday, choosing the Pirates."

Lavin is a buffoon and this attempt at historical revisionism will not stand.

whitehead is a client of Andy Miller the agent that got raided by the FBI and they said there was some connection to Villanova players as well but I don't think they are going back that far to the college recruitment of Whitehead

From what I’ve read, the investigation has been going on for two years. I don’t think that means they are only looking back at acts that occurred in the last two years.

That simply is not true. But he was a great character in The Wire.

Any school involved with ASM within the last few years should be concerned. SHU, Cuse, and Kentucky especially.

Maybe he is now Chris7. :p
BTW, Coach Calamari is shocked at all of this! All his dirty money is channeled to off shore accounts.

Any idea why ASM was specifically targeted?

Christian Dawkins used to work at ASM.

Before running up a $42K uber bill on one of his NBA client's credit cards, I swear you can't make this stuff up.

But how does that make an agent he doesn't even work for and who was exonerated of his actions, complicit in bribing high school kids/families where the FBI has the right to raid his office? Seems like it would have to be some sort of Lenny Cooke type situation where an agent was trying to get an under the table representation with immediate compensation.

From what I read the NBA player was NOT a client of ASM.

Think from now on we should be referring to him as Booked Richardson
