A slightly different spin on the topic. http://nypost.com/2017/09/27/why-is-the-fbi-trying-to-enforce-ncaa-rules/
I wonder if the IRS gets involved claiming underpayment of taxes by the recipients?
During the Lavin years, when SJU lost a recruit to LSU, several of us posters would find the $ on their keyboard and allege payoffs. LSU was not mentioned. Hopefully the Big East schools will not be involved in the wider net that may be cast. As religious institutions, we would get more "heat" than most schools and/or leagues.
I predict the NCAA will take the following actions: Issue a one-year suspension of the assistant coaches listed in the indictment. No need to rock the gravy boat.
To avoid threat of jail time, I expect coaches implicated would cop a plea, give up others, but then lose their jobs. Institutions like Louisville have to fear death penalty in view of previous infractions if charges validated. The NCAA will cooperate out of fear for further embarrassment of being portrayed in proceedings as the enabler it is. They fear the Feds with their unlimited resources as much as these coaches & their bosses will. There are tax fraud implications in this as well.
I lived through point shaving scandals effecting Tony Jackson, Connie Hawkins, Roger Brown, etc. That pales by comparison to this in my opinion.
