Assistant Coaches Arrested /Book Richardson is One

I guess this will sound naive especially now, but I'm kind of shocked that schools like Arizona would need to cheat. You'd think they'd have such recruiting momentum that the cheating would no longer be necessary.

If UCLA is clean they are going to clean up on all the kids who'll avoid Arizona and USC over the next few years.

Also, we really shouldn't gloat too much -- losing Nasir doesn't mean we didn't try to pay; it just means our offer was less than $150,000.

'Somehow I fell this will go the way of the North Carolina cheating which is nowhere.

If it was just a NCAA finding, you may be right. But this is a FBI investigation. They have no desire to sweep this under the rug. The Feds really don't care about Oklahoma state or Cleveland state.

Maybe, but if so it will probably come out which will get everyone scared. Arizona was able to get the kid out of CTK an early target of Slice's when he came aboard. Who knows what transpired?

Slice doesn't have the cleanest hands, so I'd be worried if the investigation detours toward losing staffs in addition to indictments for the winners. Him disappearing in less than a year could turn out to be huge blessing for us.

First off, as far as UCLA being clean, I wonder if this investigation goes back to Kareem's recruitment.

Secondly, if the going rate for guys like Little and Heron was 150k, then SJU didn't even bother to make an offer. They would just insult the recruit.

How do you think Arizona and Coach Miller got their momentum?

The flavor of the allegations set forth in the US Attorney's Criminal Complaint is consistent with facts related to me regarding Sid Wilson's transfer and Rawle Alkins last minute interest in Arizona.
Now we know why St.John's does not get commitments from 5* players.

May be pie in the sky thinking, but sure would be nice to see a level playing field where schools like Kentucky zona unc etc come back to the pack.

If we are 100 percent clean then I'm in favor of lifetime ban for these kids and coaches. It's the only way we'll ever be able to compete, because without harshest penalties possible, the cheaters will just do a better job of hiding their tracks the next time around.

Better chance of you being in favor of the NFL protests than that happening.

This scandal could really explode. In the normal NCAA investigation an ass't coach will take full blame protecting the head coach and getting paid handsomely for doing so. With thei Feds involved an ass't who takes full blame will probably face hard time in a federal penatentary.
In the history of college basketball the major scandals were uncovered by federal or local police. We will probably find out the Feds kept the NCAA in the dark knowing they would protect the icons.

He's a very good coach and Arizona has for the most part had momentum for decades?

In the past few years Zona has grabbed more 5 star recruits than pretty much anyone. Including Rawle, who chose Zona at the last minute after not even having them in his top 20. I called dirty pool on this program a long time ago. .

“I don’t know how anybody in their right mind would think about doing it [after this],” the head coach said. “All of a sudden you’re going to have to worry about getting arrested. This isn’t the NCAA where you get a show-cause [penalty]. This is real. This is the FBI.”

Exactly coach, that's why no one robs banks anymore, fear of being arrested.

Yes Otis puts our recruiting " failures" in perspective
Not a level playing field
AND
you know this will spread to many big time schools and imo ALL Sneaker companies
No way it's Adidas alone.
Anyone have an
Opinion on Sid W and UConn?

A slightly different spin on the topic. http://nypost.com/2017/09/27/why-is-the-fbi-trying-to-enforce-ncaa-rules/

I wonder if the IRS gets involved claiming underpayment of taxes by the recipients?

During the Lavin years, when SJU lost a recruit to LSU, several of us posters would find the $ on their keyboard and allege payoffs. LSU was not mentioned. Hopefully the Big East schools will not be involved in the wider net that may be cast. As religious institutions, we would get more "heat" than most schools and/or leagues.

I predict the NCAA will take the following actions: Issue a one-year suspension of the assistant coaches listed in the indictment. No need to rock the gravy boat.

Will the suspension be concurrent or consecutive re:any "suspensions" from the government?
