Around the Big East

The Michigan/ Villanova game was a great game to watch with 2 of the best college coaches playing chess against one another. Both teams had a big run causing the opposing coach to counter.

This may be Villanova's most athletic team.

This is actually one of Nova's least athletic teams. They are highly skilled, big, very strong, and they play very well together. Nobody on this team can match Foye, Lowry, or Ray in term's of athleticism.

It really makes you think where the wins are going to come from. I hate this round-robin format. Hopefully we can do our part and the Big East can dominate the rest of the OOC, because we are going to destroy ourselves from within with such a competitive league.

It's not just the bubble teams that will suffer either. Other than maybe Nova, the best teams will be seeded much lower in the tournament come March than they would in a typical league with plenty of punching bags.

Well thats the negative approach to look at it. Looking at it positively, if the big east heads into conference play with a very good resume as a conference there is a greater potential for those middle of the pack teams to get bids. We could be looking at the 6/7th place teams vying for bids.

Agree. Just because we are in the BE why do we have to play other BE teams?

Huge win someone on Tv last night was saying they thought Butler would be tough, along with Creighton being ranked 9th in conf and 23 rd in nation right now. Nice to know the coaches in the conf know their own teams

Actually I think it shows how hard it is to predict. Besides Nova at or near the top and DeP and Marq at or near the bottom you can probably pick the rest out of a hat to get the order of finish.

Agree 100%. That's why these OOC games are so crucial. While the conference will cannibalize itself during the regular season, it is the OOC that will distinguish the victors.

Remember what happened to Jim Boeheim a few years back when the selection committee deemed his OOC schedule too weak to let him into the dance?

I am happily eating a serving of humble pie as the BE shows it is better than i thought it would be...

you better eat a couple of servings. You also predicted 2 loses for St John's in the NIT.

True, which is why it is so important to continue this statement as long as possible. 90% of our league is undefeated right now! We could end the night 40-2 if Depaul takes care of Lehigh, SJU beat Minnesota, and Gtown takes down #18 Florida. This is a huge day for the Big East...tomorrow as well (bad news is Marquette plays Ga Tech). We need to start seeing #s before team names come conference play.
There are going to be a lot of 19-22 win teams come March.

ESPN is starting to notice and mentioning it on the air. Their is no denying it. If you are a pure basketball fan it has to make you happy. Jay Williams stating without hesitation 37 and 2 not even close.

Lol. Thanks for sharing. They are like a teenage girl that got dumped, they tell all of their friends they are fine, then go home and cry all night.

They won a national championship last season...

BE is off to a great start, but we're in no position to pick on UCONN.

Exactly, with all of their titles over the past 15 years, I highly doubt they care

For such a struggling program too many of us like to poke holes in others. Safely, I think we win the "Irrelevancy" prize pitted v. UCONN, no?

well anyone who watched Louisville destroy UCONN at the end of last season could never have predictied the Cards going out in the tournament and UCONN winning it all. Circumstances happen,
like 2 games at MSG etc. Regardless I am happy for UCONN. They were a good member of the Big East. Obviously their fans, if they are being true to themselves would rather be in the Big East.
They would be in the NBE now if the old league didn't encourage them to play football.

M, I'll go the other way. Top notch league gets ya in 9-7 and maybe a 5 or 6 at 10-6. We wanna get to where the old BE was. All the members sell out and Fox be happy to keep the big dollar contracts coming. Good TG to all. Hope the kids get us a couple of wins.

You guys took my post way out of context. I don't care if they won a national championship, you really think they enjoy being in the AAC?
