Around the Big East

Ladontay Henton WOW. One of the best offensive games I've seen in a while. Big shot after big shot from inside from 3 from everywhere and made them all

I'll say it again......Cooley is a very good coach.

Last year, I believe most said he would be nothing without Bryce Cotton. I know Henton is outstanding, but at some point this coach just needs to get some credit.

Friars and Big East carried by Henton.

As I posted at the time, Cooley said at BE Media Day that there weren't two better players in the conference than Henton. Couldn't believe he wasn't first-team All Conference.

He wasn't getting the preseason respect because it was hard to see how good he was with Bryce last year taking a lot of shots. But now, damn, it's clear he might be the best player in the conference. Just think if Harrison had that body.

Outstanding job. When watching providence, I find myself nodding my head with every move they make down the stretch with SJU in close games, I find myself nearly ripping my hair out.

For those who claim the Big East's current start in non-conference is play is somewhat inflated because of who we have beaten, answer this question: What do Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Iona, Hawaii, Northeastern, Appalachian St & UMass all have in common? They all own victories against ACC opponents. Not taking anything away from those programs, heck, Seton Hall could lose to Gardner-Webb tonight, my point is that right now with the exception of Marquette the other night, we are beating the teams we are supposed to beat, in addition to the Oklahoma, Long Beach St, Notre Dame & FSU wins. If any Big East team suffered a loss to App St, Northeastern, etc., it would clearly hurt our conference RPI. All of our wins are big, some are just bigger. :cheer: GO BIG EAST, GO ST. JOHN'S.

It will be interesting to see how long Cooley stays at Providence. He is one of the top three coaches in the Big East. Next stop for Cooley? Oregon? Alabama? Boston College?

Cooley's a Providence native, is revered there, and is establishing a solid program. I don't see him going anyway in the foreseeable future (let alone Oregon).

Creighton won easily today as well.

SHU looks like they are closing it out against Gard-Webb. Whitehead continues to look bad though. Shooting 2-10

And BC goes down to Dayton for another ACC loss. Keep 'em coming.

Best thing about the West Virginia - UConn game going on right now is that one of them will lose tonight lol. This is a tough one, I hate UConn but Huggins is impossible to root for. And while we are on the topic of conference play, another SEC team goes down as well, South Carolin just lost to Akron.

BC already reached out to Cooley and was rejected despite he being a former assistant
Besides it is not a better job.

AP polls should be coming out momentarily. Hope to see providence and Creighton in there. Will be shocked if Georgetown gets in though, cbs is wrong IMO.

On paper, Georgetown looks a lot stronger than either Creighton or Providence, IMO. But they haven't had a chance to prove what they can do yet against a strong opponent. That'll change on Wednesday when they take on Florida. Big night Wednesday all around.

@NJHoopsHaven: Creighton has broken into the AP Top 25 at No. 23. Providence receiving votes as the 28th team.

@CasualHoya: The Hoyas are 30th in the Coaches Poll, 36th in the AP Poll, and #1 in your hearts.

@NJHoopsHaven: Five Big East teams received Top 25 votes: No. 12 Villanova, No. 23 Creighton, then Providence (63 votes), Georgetown (10) and Xavier (1).
