This Gtown loss just made us a bubble team ----- for the NIT.
MUST win Big East now....no if and or butts!

G'town was dead last night against Providence. Don't believe they are good at all, will be in the NIT come March. Only decent players are Stark and Rivera. We are so poor defensively we even make Lubick look like an all star.

We have 2 top 50 PGS now. We should be distributing better and Greene should not be the PG.

Seton Hall is working hard and St. John's is hardly working

Depaul takes down Butler on the road! Depaul has a pair of sick freshmen. It's about time.

Looking more and more like a three bid league

Villanova
Creighton
Xavier

AAC should get four

Louisville
Memphis
Cincinnati
Connecticut

I don't think the AAC will get four. They are an RPI disaster that will only get worse. Cincy made a crazy climb in the RPI with two big road wins, but they also got demolished by Xavier on a neutral court and could suffer a big fall if they lose to anyone the bottom half of that league. They barely escaped Houston. How many more losses before Uconn plays themselves out? They are 0-2 with a 29 RPI and six games remaining against Louisville, Cincy, and Memphis. If they lose both to Louisville and split with the other two, that gives them a very small margin of error with the rest of the conference.

Stranger things have happened, but I just can't see the team that gets the worst out of Memphis/Uconn/Cincy getting a bid out of that horrible conference. Five teams have an RPI between 163 and 231. Does a team with 8 or 9 losses deserve to make it out of that conference?

Some of these Marquette offensive possessions, it's like watching St. John's in blue. No movement, dribbling around perimeter, terrible shots. But they are in it against Xavier here.

They look terrible. Buzz didn't become a lousy coach overnight, they just don't have the requisite skill. I've been saying it for years, but Junior Cadougan might have been the most underrated player in the country. He played big minutes for what seems like a decade and never got a mention.

Buzz will reload with a few JUCOs and they will be ready to go next year.

I wouldn't count out Georgetown just yet. Very strong strength of schedule (with Michigan St still left) and they beat #10 VCU and crushed K-State, which is now a Top 25 team.

Great points

ESPN has them as a #10 seed in the tournament in their latest bracketology, and that is after the providence loss

Not a big fan, but at least Coach W. Speaks his mind. No hyperbole, post game BS here!

Willard blunt after SHU’s 1-point loss at Marquette
The Hall is now 1-3 in the Big East after falling at Marquette 67-66. Fuquan Edwin returned but Gene Teague remained out. The Pirates are now 0-7 all-time at Marquette. Key quotes from Kevin Willard’s postgame radio interview with Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin:

“I was really disappointed with the way we came out. We didn’t come out with a whole lot of fire, a whole lot of passion. That’s disappointing. We needed this win bad. I thought this was a win we could get if we played good, solid basketball. We didn’t. We came out very lethargic, very passive.”

“I liked to see Fuquan and Aaron Geramipoor get out there but they didn’t help the cause in the first half—they really hurt us. But that happens when you don’t play.”

“Losing is unacceptable. Our attitude after Villanova was we only had 6-7 guys and we played hard, so that’s OK. That’s not OK. Seven guys should be able to win a game. I got on them at halftime (today) and they responded. We now have a week off. We’ll really get after it in practice. Hopefully Eugene and Fuquan will be able to get their legs under them.”

On why he benched Sterling Gibbs for a long stretch to start the second half: “I didn’t like the way he was playing. He’s got to get other guys involved at times. At times he just dribbles, dribbles, dribbles, and guys are standing around. He has to understand, he has a great ability to get points, and with that ability I give him the freedom to do it, but at times he has to be like, ‘I’ll get a point and I have to get one for everyone else.’ I was very happy with Jaren (Sina) running the point. I knew Jaren would get guys involved a little bit and he did.”

On Fuquan Edwin’s return (7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals): “He’s OK. His knee is a little sore, and he’ll have that for the rest of the year. But he just hasn’t played enough (in practice). He needs reps. You take a month off of anything, you’re going to be rusty. It doesn’t matter what sport, your timing is going to be off.”

“I still have great faith in this team, great belief in this team. We just have to get to where we can work every day.”

But these guys are not as athletic as us. It's like we are a tumbling act, "Flying Lavinis";

@JonRothstein: Creighton beats Xavier 95-89. 35 and 7 for Doug McDermott. Bluejays made 14 3's.

@GoodmanESPN: Doug McDermott's season numbers: 25 ppg, 7.3 rpg, shooting 49 percent from field, 43 percent from deep and 90 percent from the line.

Creighton will never succeed in the Big East. McDermott wouldn't put up those points in a real conference. Good calls Joe3, good calls.
They are going to beat us by 20 in Omaha.

@ButlerVictory: Big East kenpom ratings: 4 Nova, 8 Creighton, 31 Xavier, 41 G'Town, 55 Marquette, 64 SJ, 67 Providence, 82 Butler, 117 SH, 132 DePaul.
