Markus Howard being recruited hard by Marquette

"Howard, out of Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, is also considering Arizona State, Baylor and Central Arkansas. There is also a strong chance he reclassifies from 2017 up to 2016.

He is from Tempe, Arizona; hence, the ASU connection. There are strong family connections with Central Arkansas. And former ASU assistant Stan Johnson has been the lead recruiter for Howard at Marquette."

One of the top shooters in the 2017 class, Howard is ranked No. 33 in the 247Sports Composite.

**Just committed to Marquette & reclassified to 2016.

Huge signing. Marquette now ranked #13 for the 2016 class. SJU second in the Big East at #20.

Villanova’s romp to the national title game gives the Big East needed validation

A real rarity. I can only think of two others Juco's GTown has taken and that was back in the late 80's early 90's (Kelly and Turner I believe where there last names).

I also recall Lee Scruggs and Tre' Kilpatrick during the late 90's and early 2000's.

You guys left out one of Gtown's best frontcourt players late in JT's career: Jerome Williams. Went on to play a decade in the League.

That's right! JYD (Junkyard Dog) Williams. He was actually about 6'1" or 6'2", and then had a growth spurt right after high school, and grew to be 6'9". That played a huge role in his late ascension.

That was a fun Gtown team with Iverson,Victor Page, Othello Harrington and co. Great battles with Sheffer/Allen at UConn and Kittles/Eberz/Williams/Lawson at Nova. Less great battles with Lopez/Hamilton/Turner.

Sorry, MainMan, but the word "fun" never comes to mind when I think of any of those John Thompson teams. Loathing, maybe; but fun, never.

“I’m really, really happy for the Big East,” Wright said afterward. “We're a new entity that college basketball just is trying to figure out, you know. And I just hope the power five sees a value in us as a part of all of this in basketball. We want to keep up with the power five. We want to do everything they're doing, just do it in basketball. I hope this gives us a place at the table because basketball is really important to all these schools.”

This has been anything but a peaceful decade in college sports. Every major conference in the college game was affected by significant realignment. Some schools lost track entirely of their own competitive interests when making decisions about which conferences might be best for their programs.

There is no better example than Boston College’s entry into the ACC, in which the Eagles now are geographically remote and no longer remotely successful. They just completed a season in which they did not win a conference game in either football or men’s basketball. They made the NCAA Tournament seven times in their final 12 years in the Big East; they’ve made it three times in 11 years of the ACC, not once since 2009.

Nice to see Kris Jenkins will stay at Nova. If Hart stays, Nova obviously will be a force again.

Per Eric Bossi

#Providence has landed Indian Hills CC soph Emmitt Holt per his coach Hank Plona. Tough combo should be able to help on glass and as scorer

Ex Indiana player, dismissed for alcohol related incident.
