Around the Big East

The below linked article is entitled "Sources: Fox, Big Ten Closing In On Media Rights Agreement". In my opinion a deal between Fox & The Big Ten would be s real positive to the Big East because it will steer increased viewership to Fox and result in greater exposure for the Big East..

Fox is close to signing a deal that gives it half of the Big Ten’s available media rights package, according to several sources. Deal terms still are flexible – both in terms of money and rights. However, the two sides have agreed on basic terms that will give Fox the rights to around 25 football games and 50 basketball games that it will carry on both the broadcast channel and FS1 starting in the fall of '17. The deal runs six years and could cost Fox as much as $250M per year, depending on the amount of rights the Big Ten conference puts in its second package.

DePaul Rutgers should be a barn-burner

Almost as good as our game against R last season.

Big loss IMO for PC if this happens

According to a source, redshirt junior guard Wally Ellenson is no longer part of the Marquette men's basketball team. Story coming. #

There is some chatter that an additional player may leave.

This shouldn't be a shocker, he did his job getting his brother.

Thanks for the help Wally
Don't let the door hit you

Wally remains on scholarship with Track & Field but still a scumbag move. Wojo isn't even successful like Coach K to be doing this and getting away with it.

Haven't been a fan of Wojo during his time at Marquette. If he finds any success there he'll leave for the highest bidder. Love most of the other Big East coaches though.

I would agree. I also think there are player-types that won't enjoy playing for him. Yelling and screaming during every time out gets old quick.

Wow. Really stupid move pissing off a lottery pick. You want these kind of players to be coming back years from now and being around the teams. Not pushing them away.

Who knows, but not too many people think Wojo is there years from now. As an aside, Ellenson was a legit blue chip, lottery pick, one and done, etc. recruit. Do many think he really helped or advanced the Marquette program? I don't.

Wojo and everyone else knew Henry would be a one and done. Never a good idea to anger your best players. Look at our coaches, Mullin and staff never would've would've came here if they were done wrong by SJU. Look at how Wright always has his former players around the team. Connections are everything in college basketball.

I agree that he won't be there years from now, which makes this move selfish. Regardless think it's a foolish move and will hurt his recruiting moving forward.

Didn't mean to give the impression I was disagreeing with you, I don't. My point is I and many think Wojo is a carpetbagger and is using Marquette to gain experience before moving on so the treatment of Ellenson doesn't surprise me a bit, after all he learned from the master.

Logen, completely agree. This is getting pretty bad publicity elsewhere. Unless he has a 5 star recruit to fill the vacancy it seems like a really strange move, but perhaps not so strange for Wojo.

Glad we have Mullin who genuinely wants what's best for the school.

Sorry, but you guys are making it sound like this doesn't happen at almost every school every year. I don't care if he was a blue chips brother, if he was the least needed let him go. Add to that, he is still on scholi in another sport, so he is still getting his education paid for. Not like we didn't just push out 2 of our own in CJ ad AA this year. RING...RING...hello, Pot, this is The Kettle.

Sorry, but you're missing the point. Wally was recruited and added to the team with getting Henry in mind. They used having a family member on the team as a recruiting tool to get a McDonald's all American and future pro for a year. To boot Wally off the team as soon as Henry is gone is just classless. Jones and Amar were recruited because our coach at the time wanted them to play ball for St. John's and wanted them to help our team. Wally was used as a tool. Letting him go is just letting the world know that.

It's not the same as what happened with us. Why do you think Henry, Wally, and their parents are all publicly expressing issues with the basketball program? You didn't see that with Amar and CJ. Amar received tons of thanks from the fans and he still loves the school.
