Around the Big East

Simmons . . . looks like he's mailing it in on both ends. Completely listless..

Bayless also had strong opinion on this. Said he has wonderful talent but just floats through games every single time he's seen him play. Praised his court vision but no killer instinct like a presumed No. 1 pick should have.

Jerryd Bayless? Hope you don't actually watch Skip and Stephen A. Talk about Annoyingly Dumb and Annoyingly Dumber.

Not exactly Big East news, but I'm channel surfing and found my way to the Boston College/Wake Forest game (on ESPNU).... Dang! BC has four points under 5 minutes to go in the half. Yes! 4 points! It's 30-4, Wake Forest.

BC is making our first half against Vanderbilt look like a masterpiece. I may watch the rest of the first half to see if they'll crack double digits.

It's up to 37-4.

Wake Forest only has 1 ACC win, BTW. But, that's one more then BC has.

BC has called their third timeout in the half. Comical!

Ha, not intentionally. Work from home, though, and sometimes flip around the channels while procrastinating in the morning. On this topic I found their points more than valid.

First conference win, BC or Rutgers?

And to think that pre-ACC Boston College was a solid program, where not going to the NCAAs was a disappointment, and that for the past six years, their once-solid football program has been, to put in kindly, mediocre at best. Don't know the financial benefits of being in the ACC, but for the fans and the image of their programs, it's been a disaster.

Not exactly Big East news here either, but nice sized crowd out in St. Louis for their Sunday night game vs. Fordham. Billikens lead 30-28 at the half.

That's tough. Can I say tie?

I love the fact that BC is absolutely irrelevant in hoops since they defected. Reap what you sow.....

Hate the guy, but I side with Boeheim on this one. What's the point of being so physically gifted if you are just going to coast through games? Judging by the reaction to his coach's comment, I doubt he'll ever show any fire at all.

I get what you mean but let's flip the coin... if Mullin spoke about Christian Jones this way do you think it would motivate the guy or shut him down further ?

I just don't think it's cool that a college coach speak so negatively about a player like this... I get that it's big time D-1 program but it's not the NBA either... Boeheim is making a pretty penny, but not the player.

No, I wouldn't want coach doing it to CJ, because I don't think CJ has the talent anyway, regardless of lack of fire.

Lavin absolutely should have done it with Rysheed, though. What's the worst that would happen? Jordan would quit on the team and run home to Philly? He did that a bunch of times already when he was getting his ass coddled. And look where that got him.

But you are right. Coaches like Boeheim get paid and the kids don't (nudge nudge wink wink). I wouldn't endorse ripping a lower talent kid or a kid who can't take it. But a talented coasting kid who may be mentally strong enough to take it? Absolutely.

I agree, but should do it behind closed doors.

It may have been behind closed doors hundreds of times already, and it reached the point where JB would either choke him or try to embarrass him into playing with passion.

If it works, he'll eventually thank Boeheim, Smooth tall wings are a dime a dozen. No passion means he'll be playing in Southeast Asia and not the NBA.
