Time for Ed Cooley to get more credit. For a couple of years it was said that he was nothing without Bryce Cotton. Now, I guess he is nothing without Chris Dunn.

Or....isn't it possible that he is just a solid coach?

Fairfield University fans agree.

You got that right. My daughter goes to Fairfield, i would think they move on from Johnson after this season if they flop.

@John_Fanta

Congrats to @XavierMBB's Edmond Sumner on winning @CBSSports National Freshman of the Wk. A star to watch as @BIGEASTMBB is about to tip off

Seton Hall up 11 with about five minutes to go, look impressive. Physically punishing bigger Marquette. Delgado is a beast. Wojo on his third blue shirt.

Agree, Hall up 17 at the under 4 time out after being down 1 at the half. They are playing very well - Whitehead has made a real difference in the 2nd half passing the ball. Hall playing very good D.

Thought the consensus on here was these NY area Seton Hall kids weren't very good.

Watch them play and decide for yourself, very little objectivity on a fan board. They are a very good team.

Seton Hall has Sweet 16 talent right now and they are built to be a force in the future. Looks like Willard has finally righted that ship.

Carrington, Rodriguez and DelGado are playing like upperclassman. We saw it a little last year, but all three are much better college players than advertised......especially Carrington and Rodriguez who were both 3-star prospects.

Seton Hall is a force to be reckoned.

The combination of Sina and Whitehead never really clicked last year. With Sina gone, that problem is now over. If Sina had stayed, and Whitehead had left, I also believe the Pirates would be better then they were last season.

All this sounds familiar to last season. Too early, IMO, to "crown" Seton Hall.

Maybe, Seton Hall is legit. Or, maybe, Marquette is an average bunch or isn't that good. Personally, I'm not sold on Marquette. Maybe, they show me differently, as the season goes on.

Let's see how all this plays out before the quick-triggered prognostications.

Any team can go south for a myriad of reasons but RIGHT NOW, SHU is a very good team; they are winning the right way, legitimate consistent effort, playing together, very good defense, and unselfish offense. Marquette had won 9 in a row, were home and the Hall dismantled them in the 2nd half with a stifling defense led by Delgado, who as Paultz posted is a beast. Like him or not Willard is building a program there.

Building a program? Going to challenge those words with one question. If they don't dance this year does he live to see next season?

Going to answer that question with one word, yes. I think the question is moot because I believe they will make the tournament rather easily; we shall see. But the improvement in the team is obvious and not going unnoticed. To expand, I am not a Hall fan but when you have the talent they have and the team commits to defense and rebounding you have something. Now, that can go south as I said in an earlier post but I don't think it will. The key is that Delgado not get hurt.

If he makes it I agree. But this time last year things looked good too. I don't know enough about their recruiting but I'd be shocked if Whitehead and Delgado are back next year.

Reason I pushed on building a program was to me having a year hinge on the dance like this year isn't building to me because God forbid they don't that would be an issue and the program wouldn't be built to me.

Agree about Whitehead, not so much with Delgado - IMO he is a great college player defensively and rebounding; decent offensive player. But he is undersized for the league and the NBA rules have created a game that is not very low post oriented. As for recruiting, they have a boatload of sophomores and are in the mix for some good players. They have a very promising freshman in Singh who can really shoot. But why I say he is building a program is because of the Rodriguez and Carrington type players which fit the way Willard wants to play, pressure defense that wears teams down. With the freshman from last year becoming sophomores you can see that brand of basketball becoming their style. I realize it was only one game but they seriously imposed their will on Marquette in the 2nd half.
