Around the Big East

Gary Parrish;
Providence just won at Butler. Friars are 13-1 with wins over Arizona/Butler. Lone loss to Mich State. Ed Cooley is a legit COY candidate.

List of bad coaches in this league would be wicked short.
wojaheskee would be my only lock.

After Desi R had exchange with Kevin W coming out in first half he sat in second.;

"I don't put up with attitudes." Kevin Willard on benching Desi Rodriguez. #hallin

Kevin Willard said he hasn't decided if Desi Rodriguez will play Wednesday against Villanova. #hallin

Hall is the clear #5 team in terms of performance to date. Their RPI in a lot higher than Georgetown's, Marquette's, or Creighton's. Only have two losses. Georgetown had an awful OOC and Marquette had one of the weakest OOC strength of schedule in the nation. On paper Hall would be a lock for the tournament if it was held today.

It was ugly but good they beat DePaul.

Not Big East but Bobby Hurley, who some wanted as coach goes nuts and gets ejected in game vs. Arizona
That wouldn't play here just ask Fran who got the boot for similar antics, like his passionate plea to refs after brutal Syracuse loss.

Willard's fighting to keep his job. I'm sure he'll find a way to play Rodriguez.

Latest AP Poll:
8. Providence
10. Xavier
11. Villanova
18. Butler

When's the last time a team started league play at 0-2 and was ranked as high as Butler? Speaks to the strength of the Big East this year.

That had to have been the case when the league was 16 teams.

It always seems like the league has an 0-2 or 0-3 team that is better then that (thanks to a tough early schedule), and works it's way towards the top by the end of the year. OTOH, there always seems to be a 2-0 or 3-0 team that moves towards the bottom by the end of the year.

Early schedule plays into that, most of the time.

PC loses at home to Marquette by one

tough game, Marquette went on 15 to 6 run to end game. Triple teamed Dunn at end. As usual Big East road wins will be very tough this year except against Vincentians. That pray to God will change in the near future.

Great piece on PC's Ben Bentil, who I believe is already a top 5 kid in Big East. He only starting playing hoops at 15 & more importantly has the work ethic & commitment to succeed. Hopefully our freshmen can adopt the same attitude & come back next year much improved;

To answer the obvious question, how Providence recruits that well, in 2014, they averaged 8300 per game. That's nearly 20% higher than SJU in the same period, without the benefit of MSG games with some of our opponents that bring in crowds.

I'd rather beat them, but it's nice to see the Big East be competitive top to St. J- err, bottom.
