Around the Big East

Nova has looked fine today but out of conference play is almost over and they have no impressive victories.

Georgetown is about to be embarrassed once again.

Hall is falling behind.

Ugly, ugly day so far. Hall and Georgetown were borderline tournament teams and now it's looking like they won't make it barring an impressive BE performance.

Dinkins smiling;

Georgetown ends the home non conf part of the schedule with losses to Radford, Monmouth, and UNC Asheville.

Hall beats Wichita State with Vanvleet. Big win for them and the league. Big move of the game? Willard took Whitehead out a minute into the OT tied, kept him out for almost 3 minutes and the Hall went up 5 and held on.

I don't think losing at Virginia in what was a pretty close game is that bad. Xavier won easily and Seton Hall got a big win. The conference is going to get at least five teams in the NCAA. Xavier, Villanova, Butler, Providence and one of Georgetown, Marquette or Seton Hall.

Huge win. If SHU plays well in conference (10-8) I think they'll be the fifth team in. Don't see 6 teams again like last year, but league is more top heavy this year.

Georgetown loss was brutal. I know some of you hate Georgetown because they were an elite and dirty team 30 years ago, but this is a new league and Georgetown is supposed to be the gem of this conference. Other teams have stepped up big time during the first 3 years (mainly Villanova and the non-Catholic 7 teams), but it's never good having the most well-known and popular team in your league losing to multiple mid-majors. It hurts the conference as a whole. JTIII needs to step down because Georgetown won't fire him.

They've made the tournament 6 of the past 8 seasons.
We should have such problems.

Creighton will definitely give us problems. They play hard. Way above their talent level. They looked great first 2 minutes of the game then OK showed up and I figured the game was over but they are hanging around.

DePaul beating 10- and 1 Northwestern. What hurt the Big East this weekend is the terrible Johnnie performance against Incarnate Word. At least they can revive themselves against NJIT tomorrow/

When was the last time they've made it past the first weekend? 2007. Yes they've generally performed during the regular season but getting to the tournament as a 2 or 4 seed and losing to a 15 seed is unacceptable for a team of Georgetown's caliber and talent level.

This is a team that year after year gets 4 and 5 star recruits and does nothing with them.

I realize SJU has been awful for a while, but when teams like Georgetown or any other elite team for that matter consistently under-perform they deserve criticism. You don't see other teams with this talent level going 8 years without making the Sweet 16.

Even worse, we're not talking about the tournament this year. We're talking about them losing to 3 mid majors (along with 2 other losses). The Monmouth loss was acceptable but the other two were not.

I'd argue their resume in terms of Ws/Ls isn't even more impressive than SJU's at this point. Possibly worse.

Instead of making recommendations, like firing a BE coach for sake of the League, perhaps we should hold back until we get our own house in order.

Down 4 with 4 to go.
This conference really is a bitch.

Georgetown fanbase sounding a lot like ours last year. We were in a similar situation, underperforming with talent and made the right decision. Our house under Mullin is getting in order. Having watched the majority of Georgetown games this year and seeing their lack of effort and urgency against weak competition I'd say Georgetown's house won't get in order under JT3.

Agree. also comments that our losses hurt the league in any way. You know what, we were supposed to be very bad and we have been a little worse than decent. Surprisingly, most basketball people don't look at the front of a uniform or the conference, they look at the team and many that I know are very surprised we have played as well as we have. As fans maybe we get PO'd but I know several assistant college coaches who thought it very possible we wouldn't win a game this year. Might have to pull a General because.....................man, let's be a little realistic.

Agree

Ohio State-Kentucky was and Purdue-Butler is a really physical game, love it. Plus Kentucky lost. Butler up 4 at the half and Dunham and Martin only have 2 points each. Real good game, very intense; both are really good teams.
