The attendance at DePaul tonight (vs. Prov.) is horrible. Of course, DeP has lost all the "mo" they had earlier this year. They look like they've quit for the season. But looks to be about 500 ppl in the stands.

Flat-out depressing.

Forget their record or "mo"! One of my best friends lives in Chicago and we are in touch regularly. It was -2 degrees during the game and there were health warnings for exposure. Add to that the fact that DePaul plays nowhere near their campus and you will understand the extremely low attendance, which, by the way, was close to 6,000 in official numbers.
Now, if you want to be depressed try explaining why in sunny Miami the U only drew 5,000 for a must win game against hapless Buzz Peterson and VaTech?

Thanks for the weather and arena-location info. But have to say, have seen other DeP games on TV (no, have never been there) and it's the same sparse crowd every time.

You are welcome. The wind chill was minus 20 and people were told to stay indoors. That 2000 people showed up out of the 6,000 tickets sold is a tribute to the Blue Demons.

Now, as for weather reports my good friend in Los Angeles teases me about the great weather he is having. He lives 5 minutes from the UCLA campus. UCLA is a great university, a beautiful campus with coeds that would render your Viagra prescription null and void. They are blue bloods in the truest sense of the word and recently stole coach Miller with a $2.4 million salary plus incentives. They play in the mecca of West coast college basketball Pauley Pavilion that seats 12,829. They play in the Pac 12 which, according to our resident westie Austour, is a power 5 conference.
Why did I mention all this crap? Because UCLA has not had an attendance over 7,000 except for 2 big games neither of which came close to sell outs.
Which leads me back to DePaul. They "sold" 6,000 tickets to a crap game in an off campus arena near O'hare airport in freezing Chicago.
You sound embarrassed for DePaul. The PAC 12 should be embarrassed of UCLA.
It is all relative to what and who we want to bitch about. ;)

Funny you should mention UCLA. I was in LA a couple of weeks ago and went to see Utah/UCLA, Pauley was less than half full. Then I went to the Utah/USC game and that was about one third full. Attendance at a lot of college games is suffering.

No offense intended but, Steve ALFORD NOW Coaches UCLA and Buzz Williams is at VA Tech..

Now, back to today's game vs SH.

We should handle the Pirates but, who knows.

We are fighting for 4th or 5th place in Conference and a possible NCAA BID. THIS team, under Lavin, has never responded in their 4 seasons with him, to winning a big game..

Let's hope they can change that today as it is a MUST WIN GAME. Doubtful we will beat Nova or, G'town. Which gives us 9 losses.. SO, TODAY IS BASICALLY, IT..

I would love for Adonis to get into Stainbrook's shape before he transferred to Butler. :p

I love the Big East. I have to admit, I'd love to have Uconn.

Watching the Villanova-Marquette game now...Nova is so physical, so smart, well-coached, in-tune.... I know it's a matter of opinion and others will disagree, but they seem rather unathletic compared to other top teams and especially compared to past Nova teams.

I want them to make a deep run. If we can't win the B.E.T., I'd like to see them win it and get a #1 seed and run to the Final Four. They will need favorable matchups to get there. Over-the-top athletic teams will give them serious trouble.

They'll do well against less athletic teams that space and play deliberate or athletic teams that play wild and lack a physical big man. Jay Wright is tremendous for the conference...I hope he finishes his career there. He really is the face of the conference now and we couldn't ask for a better representative. What could have been if Lavin took the Wizards job and Wright took over this program at a near all-time high.

Don't see Jay leaving that job anytime soon

I believe he meant Jarvis. Jay Wright was supposedly the frontrunner for the Johnnies job had Jarvis landed with the Wizards.

Marillac meant if Jarvis took the Wizards job and Wright took over an STJ program sill on a high from the Riverside crews exploits. Yes, that really happened. Shows why Jordan shouldn't be allowed near an NBA team's front office as has been exhibited repeatedly.

Have you watched them play this season? Hard to criticize a coach coming off a Championship but they do not look like a well coached team. They need more than just a conference change but between the conference and the coaching the future is not looking good (for them) and how could you make that change without at least another couple of seasons to justify it?
