The attendance at DePaul tonight (vs. Prov.) is horrible. Of course, DeP has lost all the "mo" they had earlier this year. They look like they've quit for the season. But looks to be about 500 ppl in the stands.

Flat-out depressing.

Forget their record or "mo"! One of my best friends lives in Chicago and we are in touch regularly. It was -2 degrees during the game and there were health warnings for exposure. Add to that the fact that DePaul plays nowhere near their campus and you will understand the extremely low attendance, which, by the way, was close to 6,000 in official numbers.
Now, if you want to be depressed try explaining why in sunny Miami the U only drew 5,000 for a must win game against hapless Buzz Peterson and VaTech?

5,000 is actually a very good number for Miami basketball. It's a football school, and I know that when Leonard Hamilton, Perry Clark, and Frank Haith were there, the university was giving away tickets to students and they still couldn't draw a thousand fans, let alone 5,000. As for Buzz, what a bad decision go to Va Tech. No doubt the money's better there, but he seemed set for life at Marquette. So it goes.

Actually, Buzz is earning less at Va Tech than he did at Marq, but his contract is for 7 years and rolls over so he'll always have 5 years on it.

Thanks for the weather and arena-location info. But have to say, have seen other DeP games on TV (no, have never been there) and it's the same sparse crowd every time.

Last night's results were definitely good for our resume, Providence crushes DePaul and Xavier beats CInci on the road.

Except for Minnesota losing at home to Northwestern.

According to ESPN, that gives us one less top 100 victory, since the Gophers fell to 102 with that loss. That probably answers my question from the Bracketology thread, as to why Lunardi punished us so much.

Dammit Minnesota! what do you think is better for us on Sat....Butler beating Xavier at home so we move up in the BE standings (assuming we win), or Xavier winning and our win there looks better?

Thanks a lot Minn.

What is better for us Saturday...Xavier losing and we move up in the BE standings (assuming we win), or Xavier winning and our win there looks better?

Let's just get the W, move on and not worry about other teams results at this time. Our fate is in our hands.

Xavier winning. They're at low 30's RPI right now and if they could sneak into the top 25 that would be big. Barring a total collapse, Butler will remain with a strong RPI, and our losses to them will still be considered against a strong RPI team.
