Providence needs to beat DePaul tonight. More they win the better our sweep looks, and also DePaul losing continues to ensure we don't have to play Wednesday in the BET

@becb_sbn: Was Gibbs' elbow worse than Obekpa's? I say yes, by a wide margin.

Definitely worse IMO.. Archie's arms were pinned and he was laying flat on the floor...completely vulnerable and had no ability to defend himself or get out of the way. Gibbs' position above Archie made the potential force exponentially greater. He could have inflicted life-threatening injuries to Archie. Wow. It looks like he was going for his throat...scary. I'm glad Archie is okay, as that could have been very bad.

The apology seemed very genuine and Gibbs is a good kid that let his emotions gets the better of him, but he really has to be suspended for this IMO.

CO's was a cheap shot and we would have no grounds to argue if he was suspended, but at least CO's victim had the chance to dodge the shot or block it. The force of CO's shot seemed weak in comparison and his intent wasn't AS malicious. Just my thoughts.

Plus, wins by Depaul make our league look worse. Providence needs to stay in the top 25 for the benefit of our RPI.

He had a chance to dodge it? From what i remember CO was running behind him and elbowed him in the back/side of head.

not a big east topic but wasn't sure where to post....found it interesting that dick vitale will not being working the duke/unc game tonight for espn......i wonder if he's on the outs....

I know it sounds weird...I don't want to give CO any room for his error, but being completely, 100% defenseless makes any intentional contact completely inexcusable to me.

I remember the CO elbow as him running straight at the Butler kid and then giving him a 'bow when his head was a angle looking away. Is that okay? Hell no. One isn't better than the other...but the Gibbs is worse if that makes any sense.

I heard he wasn't part of their #1 crew anymore. He didn't like being demoted and wanted to do the game, but stated (paraphrased) he's a team player and will go with the the flow of the network.

I agree with Paultz on this one.... Hopefully, he's on his way out. His schtick has been old and played out for a long time.

With our luck he'll wind up at FS1 and do all our road games next year. :eek:hmy:

Interesting matchup right now on ESPN 2 between Xavier and Cincy. Could be a big win for the conference as its a tough road game

Calhoun isn't bad for someone new to the broadcast booth

Agree. I didn't recognize his voice when I first turned on the game and was quite surprised to see it was him. His comments and insights are pretty sharp. I must say, I like him better as an analyst than I did as a coach!
