That one angle that Zags has does make it look like his fist was deflected, but the ange FS1 keeps showing proves that it never actually hit his teammate. It just looks like that because of the angle. His teammates head never even moves once the "contact" was made. With that force, it would move a lot.

Even though his elbow was worse than obekpas, Gibbs took responsibility immediately whereas Chris did not. I'd say it's 50/50 whether he plays against us

This was not a moving elbow against a guy on the move! His team was down over 25 points, the game was over and he closed his fist and went for Arci's head while he was on the floor. Not even close to Obekpa's elbow. This was assault and battery. I see a 3 game suspension and Whitehead is happy now that he will be the man.

Getting drilled in the back of the head with a blatant elbow while facing the other way is not "assault and battery "?
that's a hand shake in the rockaways

On another note. With all the Gibbs controversy Creighton is quietly beating butler by 5 with 14 minutes left. 37-32

Correct. Both players were "moving" in the same direction towards the basket. Obekpa's swing of his elbow was less potentially dangerous than striking an immobile victim on the floor. Gibbs first struck Arcidiacono then went for the ball. Try watching the video Paultzman posted.
From a technical standpoint had Gibbs connected with more force, it could have caused serious damage from the G force effect.

"The human body is flexible and deformable, particularly the softer tissues. A hard slap on the face may briefly impose hundreds of g locally but not produce any real damage; a constant 16 g for a minute, however, may be deadly. When vibration is experienced, relatively low peak g levels can be severely damaging if they are at the resonance frequency of organs and connective tissues."

I hope I have confounded you just a little. Besides, it is just as illogical as the conspiracy theory now being circulated by Pirate fans that Gibbs forearm was deflected by a Seton Hall player caused his fist to close and veer off the direction of where the ball was near Arci's groin.

This shows that Ryan A. is a class act. Not many people in his situation would have responded to the incident and Sterling's tweet in this manner.

Watching the 2nd half, it is very easy to see how Whitehead hurts chemistry. I mean he was chucking deep 3's (a couple went in), forcing things in 1 on 1 play, etc. He's just a ball hog, doesn't make his team better.

Did someone mention homerism?

He was going for the throat. The deflection saved Arch's life.

Just saw the replay (also saw it live). Don't think we can make judgments about what his intended target was, but it was certainly looked like an intentionally vicious, vicious shot at Archie's face, a shot that landed on his forehead. Given the position of their bodies, truly one of the worst sucker shots to a player's unprotected face that I've ever seen.

Those woukd be the Seton Hall fans putting forth the grassy knoll theory, ie., Gibbs formed his fist to strike at the ball, which, according to them is common, and, hitting his teammate instead, said arm was deflected causing him to inadvertently strike Arci and immediately change direction towards the ball again. :S

Obekpa should have been suspended ( too late now), Gibbs should get 3 games.

Listen, Gibbs wasn't going to kill the guy, but the intent was clear. It was to hammer him. It was an opponent on the ground and it's pretty easy to see what the intent was. He should get a 2-3 game suspension and be done with it. That likely could mean their post-season chances are over even if they probably were before the incident.

Except that most Seton Hall fans were appalled by Gibbs' actions and most are calling for his suspension ... not to mention Willard's dismissal.
