Around the Big East

Unhappy
I'd love that Avon but can't see the league playing ball with a football school again. UCONN fans have been screaming to get back in the Big East too. They hate the current conference.

Keeping the Garden for the tourney is imperative. The league needs Jay Wright to stay at Nova because IMO they will always be a very good team with him there. Need Gtown to be a perennial NCAA squad - or close to that - because they are a name and a draw. And the league needs St John's to be a team that makes the tourney more than not and is at least pretty good in the down years. We bring the NY media/hype/buzz and the reality is that when St John's is even pretty good the rest of college hoops takes notice for that reason. If those 3 can happen the league will be fine long term because the Xavier's, Marquettes, Butlers, Prov, etc will have their good/very good years.

One positive is that the league seems to be doing well from a recruiting standpoint.

No, No, No and No to UConn. They are starting to become irrelevant; not even mentioned with high recruits. I would rather go the Richmond, VCU, Dayton route and build our own.

Way more exposure with UConn and we would be adding arguably the best program in college be over the last 25 years, plus they travel extremely well and they are already proven as a team that would do well in the Big east.

I also agree with Austin I'd rather have Cinci back too instead of Memphis.
isnt cinci bound for big 12?

You could clearly see Gibbs was ticked around the midway point of the second half. It was during a timeout. I didn't know why he seemed ticked, but you could definitely see it. Once, play resumed, then Gibbs started playing disinterested ball.

Whitehead was playing some wild ball tonight. He committed some awful turnovers in the 2nd half, which allowed Georgetown to regain some confidence and rebuild their lead.

From afar, this has the look of Tommy Amaker's last season at Seton Hall.

People on this board don't know where to find the games. Teams in the conference playing good competitive ball. A league of non- football schools can never be Mich vs Ohio st. I don't think the schools can be blamed for the ratings. The pros at Fox gatta figure the way to make it successful. Over time I think it will be.

@Jeff_Ermann: Seton Hall getting woodshedded by Georgetown. I feel like their collapse is karma from the blatant/desperate Isaiah Whitehead package deal.

Hall is now 5-7 in the BE with upcoming games:

@ providence
@nova
@ SJU
Providence
Creighton
@ Georgetown

They are headed to the NIT and really turned out to be a disappointing season after the start with wins over us and Nova.

We can move to .500 in the conference and fifth place by winning the next two games. Can we do it?

@NYPost_Brazille: On potential issues with Seton Hall upperclassmen and freshmen, Kevin Willard said "I'm not going to talk about chemistry issues." #shubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Seton Hall having no player availability. Whoa. #shubb

Seton Hall didn't make any players available to media after the game. We got some problems brewing in Jersey!

Looks like 2 more wins at best

Not sure of the validity of the story, but I read the team didn't stick around for the alma mater after tonight's game, either.

I think we definitely handle them. They've gone into a complete free fall.

I wonder if Willard survives this

Still think we are a 7 or 8 win team in the big east. Just don't have enough depth to be better In my view. Win against DePaul, split g town, and split Xavier. Lose rest of the games with good effort but just not enough. nIT bound. Maybe win a few games in nit if they play at high level and get good matchup. Just not enough bigs to compete against the top 50 programs.

Still like lav though and while we will probably stink next year, making changes now would be even worse.

So as everything becomes more clear it looks like:

In:
Nova
Butler
GTOWN
Providence

Right side of the bubble:
Xavier
SJU????

Wrong Side of the Bubble (and fading)
seton Hall

One game at a time when. We can suffer when it happens. Seton Hall could be giving us the opening we need to squeeze through. If we can beat Providence twice, we can win two out of four from X and Gtown.

I don't remember but did he get an extension after last years recruit class ? If not I agree with you he could be dead man walking. Damn Tiny might have a shorter stay at seton hall than Whitehead

"Subtraction by addition" re Whitehead returning & changing chemistry?
