Around the Big East

@AdamZagoria: Butler guard Kellen Dunham has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Providence freshman forward Ben Bentil has been tabbedBIG EAST ROW

No big east games tonight. But a big seton Hall - Georgetown game tomorrow.

I am intrigued to see if seton hall plays with poise and gets back on track after the debacle and mobley comments after the game over the weekend.

And yes this post was pointless, but I'm trying to steer it back on topic, this is the longest thread in redmen.com history, it would be a shame if it got locked because of one joke that was stupid.

G'town @ SH
Xavier @ Marquette.
Who to root for?
G'town and Marquette for me.
I can never bring myself to root for the Hoyas unless a GU win got us into the tourney.

This is why we need UConn in the league.

I know everyone hates them but they bring a marquee name, juice (and ratings) which is obviously what we are lacking here.

as i posted at an earlier time too; it will be imperative that we are able to sell out MSG to keep our Tournament there.

The Big 10 is already playing there a week earlier and other conferences will try to steal MSG away from us.

We have to sell that building out and keep the Tournament there. Losing MSG would be catastrophic to the league.

Didn't read the articles but unless I'm just not following the other conference, I'm not sure if there is another conference out there who has had much down to the wire games than the BE. Seems to be a common occurrence regardless of what the perception of the league or ratings may be.

Between Matt Carlino and Sterling Gibbs, the BE has had probably the best collective finishes in the country.

I wish Marquette could make the NCAA tournament because they'd be an instant Cinderella and fan favorite.

I'd love that Avon but can't see the league playing ball with a football school again. UCONN fans have been screaming to get back in the Big East too. They hate the current conference.

Keeping the Garden for the tourney is imperative. The league needs Jay Wright to stay at Nova because IMO they will always be a very good team with him there. Need Gtown to be a perennial NCAA squad - or close to that - because they are a name and a draw. And the league needs St John's to be a team that makes the tourney more than not and is at least pretty good in the down years. We bring the NY media/hype/buzz and the reality is that when St John's is even pretty good the rest of college hoops takes notice for that reason. If those 3 can happen the league will be fine long term because the Xavier's, Marquettes, Butlers, Prov, etc will have their good/very good years.

One positive is that the league seems to be doing well from a recruiting standpoint.

No, No, No and No to UConn. They are starting to become irrelevant; not even mentioned with high recruits. I would rather go the Richmond, VCU, Dayton route and build our own.

I don't know about the rest of you but before the whole breakup I did hate UConn but I loved to hate them. Then when it seemed they were a major part of the breakup the hate was different. But now I just don't GAF (sorry Beast) because of the piss poor (sorry Beast) POS (sorry Beast) conference they play in. IF they are the only football team in the conference they can't really cause too much damage if/when they leave again so I'm starting to lean towards your way of thinking. Them and Temple would be nice but I know Nova would say no so. I'd actually prefer Cincy over Memphis in that case.

18-4 Georgetown. Seton Hall looks so bad. Willard might've lost this team

It's now 27-7. Can we play seton hall tomorrow? It sucks they have time to get back on track before they play us

Yeah they've looked terrible so far. Also not too impressed with Whitehead this year. I know he was hurt but from what I've seen, that one and done talk is not looking good. I would even go as far as saying that I would take Sheed over him.

Way more exposure with UConn and we would be adding arguably the best program in college be over the last 25 years, plus they travel extremely well and they are already proven as a team that would do well in the Big east.

I also agree with Austin I'd rather have Cinci back too instead of Memphis.
