I'll say this about Lavin, that crap has never gone on at St. John's under him. Our players would take a bullet for one another, and Jakarr credited coach for that after the Creighton game last year.

It will be interesting to see how this unravels for seton hall

CO refusing to check into a postseason game is taking a bullet for one another?

Well there was Nuri

Lavin wasn't the coach that year. And not for nothing, nuri was at the garden today rooting on his former teammates, there is hardly hard feelings

Nuri was at the Garden?
He can root for whoever he wants. Doesn't change the fact those kids were exactly stopping him from heading out the door.

I aso know that Nuri is still good friends with our team, especially PGIV.

Phil should be friends with him. Nuri leaving opened the door for immediate PT from year 1 :)

wow the last time he was at the garden, he chocked and clanked two free throws.

Whitehead wants to be one and gone. Tiny will probably try to keep him around for a second year because it will help Tiny who, if he doesn't show immediate post-Whithead recruiting results, will be gone IMO. But if Whitehead is projected in the first round I understand that he will make the jump. And if Gibbs graduates this year - he may have enough credits to do so - I could see him taking his talents somewhere else for his last year of eligibility.

That is really bad. But what did they expect with Whitehead, you knew his head was always on the next level

Reputation aside -- and now that's taking a hit -- what has Whitehead shown to be projected as a first-round pick? Are pickings that slim this year?

My first impression was that this was directed at Tiny, which would be awesome.

Looking forward to Eddie Griffin-Ty Shine 2.0 over there.

Draft Express has him going #44 in 2016. Also worth noting, Obekpa has slid to the end of the second round (pre-elbow) with a bunch of bigs with better stats on teams that will dance.

Jordan, like usual is not predicted to be drafted in either round, either year.

Whitehead and (especially) Jordan would be foolish to test this draft after so-so seasons. Too many young PGs like D'Angelo Russell (freshman who played his way into the projected #2 overall pick) stepped way up. The Harrison brother are not both projected as late second rounders, although I think that changes after they win it all.

Gibbs will stay put.

hmm that would be great, I had thought he was talking about Mobley but I like your idea better

Paultz I think you are probably right about Gibbs. As for Whitehead, if he has a bunch of good games down the stretch I could see his stock shooting up because of the raw potential.

Interesting team stats a bit past the middle of the BE season. In BE only games SJU is 3rd in FG% and 5th in FG defense %. The 3 point shooting % is also near the top. The rebounding is at the bottom.

The most interesting stat is that SJU places just 2 players in the top ten average minutes played per game.

In any given year, there are maybe 3-5 kids that are legit one and done talents. Right now, Whitehead isn't close to being one of them. I wish the NBA would stop this drafting on potential garbage that is causing kids to leave before they should. You can't blame the kid for taking what's offered, but the professionals in suits should know better.

I think that average minutes played stat is tough to really look at. Most teams in this league have a guy that basically plays all game for them (Henton, Gibbs, etc.) so to even have 2 guys in that top 10 is a lot.

Another stat I found surprising was the 3 point % of two of our players. Sheed is at .357 and DLo is at .362. I know both players were going in opposite directions for a few games but over the season they are basically shooting the same from 3.

EZ Pass suspension paying dividends.:)

@JonRothstein: Rysheed Jordan's last three games for St. John's: 18.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4.0 APG, 51% FGs, 50% from 3. Playing like an All-BE guard. #SJUBB

Phone confiscation hasn't hurt either ;)
