Soriano lost a lot of weight, hopefully he will get faster.
He was listed at Fordham at 250. Listed this year at 260 and its been said he lost 20 lbs. I wonder if he gained a lot post season and then lost it.

Well he looks happier at least.

So let me understand this:  Gillespie is Pre-season Player of the Year, but is not on either 1st or 2nd team BE.

The Big East’s 12-year television deal with Fox expires in 2025, and enhancing its product is important. Adding a school, however, would have to make sense financially and provide a brand boost, as bringing Connecticut back did last year. It also would eliminate the round-robin schedule, since the conference does not want to move to 22 league games.“I think we have to be open to maybe a 12th or more, depending on what happens in the coming years,” Ackerman said. “The end of your media rights deal factors in. … The incremental revenue that you can bring in, particularly from television from a new school, is part of that equation.

”St. John’s new president, Rev. Brian Shanley, told The Post the league presidents are open to adding a 12th member, but there is no school that makes sense. Gonzaga, which has reached the national championship game twice in the last four tournaments out of the mid-major West Coast Conference, has been rumored. But geography — Gonzaga is located in Spokane, Wash. — is a major stumbling block.“I think that’s the feeling a lot of presidents have,” Shanley said. “It’s a travel nightmare for both sides.”

Just have Gonzaga move further east, problem solved.

BE first team is comprised of 6 players--the POY plus 5 others.  Last season there were 2 co POY plus 4 others on the first team

Is it that big of an issue if we split into two divisions and they only have to come to the East Coast for three games a year in the regular season? They could knock those games out in one trip over winter break.

I don’t think it is the travel requirements of the basketball team that would kill the move. That could probably be worked out but how could Gonzaga send its volley ball team and all of the other non revenue sport teams to the east coast.
Could they join the big east for mens basketball only and find some other west coast league for all other sports? Probably not.

Agree with you. Think my point was Nyiwe might be better than most think yes the way coach runs it will be great to have bigs that can keep  up and take up space stop  and block penetration and rebound ,.something we have not had in yrs

Can't read the article (not a subscriber) but I hope they don't do anything too insane like go much past 12 teams or add anyone from the west coast. Even in this insane era of realignment, Gonzaga in the Big East would be the most insane thing yet.

Memphis could be an interesting consideration. They're not on the east coast and it's a public institution - so not the most natural fit - but it adds a decent market no further from the east coast than many of the other teams and they were spurned by the Big 12 despite having a borderline top 10 team this season. Would be a good addition with Penny there bringing in 5-stars. They'd just have to figure out what to do with football. I'd be happy if they just added that 1 and then kept it at 12, with 6 east coast and 6 not.

Otherwise, St. Louis and Dayton could be solid / nonthreatening additions too.

If Gonzaga would bring a huge media contract payday for all involved, Big East should fund all the charter flights to reduce cost of travel and time.  May be a small give.

Possibly a Jones fracture, very high re-fracture rate so hopefully they bring him along slowly
