rumblings of Georgetown losing to Virginia in a secret scrimmage today 83-47, and UConn lost to Rutgers.
That definitely doesn't sound like Jordan Riley did an efficient job running the point./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

So,we lose to URI today 85-83 #0 much for defense. Not much to take away from this since it wasn’t see. Al though Smith an wheeler did not shoot well Pinzon was o-2

This scrimmage has about as much importance as the Baruch blow out, which is basically close to zero. We're Champ and Posh and a bunch of role players. We won't know how good those role players are till the season starts, and more significantly when conference play starts.

#0 much for defense?  I'm sure Anderson will get right on that.

CMA has a number of new players and it always takes new guys a little time to learn his defensive system. I just hope that with guys like Smith and Coburn joining Chsmp and Posh that we can score enough early to avoid a bad loss until the defense catches up.

Looks Like Soriano, Champy and Coburn had nice games against URI.  Posh, smith, wheeler and mathis really struggled shooting the ball.

Really excited for Coburn.  Hes was 5-7 from 3 tonight and played really well against Baruch as well.

Here is the boxscore:

Looking more and more like Coburn might me taking a slight lead in the SG projections.

This team has defensive talent as evidenced by the 21 turnovers they forced, but they should get better every week on the team defense side of the equation.

Would love to see the boxscore to see the time distribution. Was Mike playing to win (I don't think so) but more to give the players time to showcase their talent?

There is a box score to look at.  I think Jeff Goodman of all people posted it on twitter.

Have to get more production from the combination of Posh, Stef, Montez Mathis and Aaron Wheeler.  7 for 32 and 2 for 17 from 3 will help us lose a lot of games.  They must be better than that and I think they will be.

Thanks Paultzman, that was helpful.

Looks like URI held to an 8 man rotation as well. I agree, with some more time playing together, things with gel, including the offense which seems to sputter. 27% on 3's and 38% on 2's.

SJU shot 46 per cent from two point range in the scrimmage which is pretty much what they did in games last year. Last year they took too many threes for a team that didn’t shoot very good from outside. Taking thirty three in the scrimmage was way too many.
Im sure Mathis and Wheeler were brought in for tough defense and rebounding but every college ball player knows that in order to play at the next level, NBA or overseas, being able to shoot the three is a priority and they will continue to throw them up even if they are basically a turnover. It makes it real tough on today’s college coaches.

Bonnies would create a nice competitive NYS rivalry.
It would help us  both re Syracuse in recruiting.
They are probably going to be in the NCAAs most years but are not
directly a media or high school /AAU competitor.
great choice for a Big East choice in my view.
i ealize they dont have the notoriety of many other options.

Agreed about the defense, although without having watched the game, hard to say how many of those TOs were forced, and how many were just carelessness/rustiness on the part of RI. Probably a combination of those 2 factors . Regardless, we have the athletes, the length, the depth and the coaching that the D doesn't concern me. It's the offense that has me most concerned.
