Around the Big East

Georgetown hangs on to beat Xavier 72-66
The Big East tournament is going to be wild
Virtually anybody is capable of beating anybody else
Can't wait!!!

Georgetown beats Xavier 72-66.  The last 90 seconds by Xavier was brutal.  If they had played halfway decently down the stretch then they'd have won or  entering OT versus the Hoyas.

If we do our job the next two games, then we're looking at a bye.

The last 90 seconds were off the hook . Xavier blew about 5 chances . Why didnt Ewing have his big man in for the laST 5 MINUTES ?

The Creighton coach actually said that to his team???  How out of touch w/ whats going on in the world do u have to be to talk like that.

What a moron.

He was so busy "coaching his ass off" that he forgot.  /media/kunena/emoticons/wassat.png

Georgetown tried its best to lose that game, Xavier said nah, we got this L.  Just terrible basketball by both teams.

My read of Ewing going with Pickett as his frontcourt player is that he wanted the poor free throw shooters out of the game and he wanted more ball handling.  Pickett certainly got the job done for him in the post late.  He's not a good basketball player, but he does have length and athleticism and he's a good free throw shooter.

My view of Georgetown is that they don't have a player who would be better than the 4th best player on almost every team in the league.  That Ewing has this record out of that roster is really, really impressive.

I think that is a little bit of a strech.  I knw that their big guy woukld be a starter on many teams.  But I agree Ewing has done a realy good coaching job, maybe neck and neck wiht Coach Anderosn for conference COY.

There's no question that Wahab or Pickett or maybe Blair would fill a role and a hole on another team.  I mean, if you put Wahab on St John's he'd be a starter and he might make us a top-3 team in the conference.  But he still isn't better than Champagnie, Alexander, or (IMO) a healthy Greg Williams.  You could argue that he isn't better than Moore.

I'm just talking about that in a "Madden Football" sort of sense where you assigned a point ranking to each player, I think you'd struggle to find a Georgetown player who would have a higher ranking than 4th on that teams roster.  Maybe 3rd on a couple of teams.

I'm not that as impressed with Ewing as a coach.  As a recruiter more so.  You're impressed by what he's done this year?  Why aren't you impressed with his starting backcourt from last year bolting for greener pastures?  If you're impressed with Ewing you must be over the moon with the job Anderson's done this year.

I have yet to see any significant in-game coaching by him.  His teams have a propensity to blow big leads, like against us last year in the BE tournament.  He's blown a couple of leads this season and survived last night because X was even more inept than gtown down the stretch.

In today's society, the hyper criticisms are to be expected.
