Around the Big East

We're seriously going to blow Posh for a "triple double" a) in overtime and b) where he was 2-10 from the field? Then after the game takes a passive aggressive shot at MA staff about letting him make mistakes after we all know what went down last year? FOH
Some of us don’t know what went down. Heard rumors that Posh had something in common with Willie Shaw and Chris Obekpa. Is that what you’re referring to?

Posh is going to eat Jenkins' lunch. Triple-double tonight with 3 steals to boot.
Ha. That’s just nuts. Daniss is in different class. Last thing Posh needs is another lunch. 😎😎Last pass into post was terrible. He lucked out that bad pass was saved by team mate. Otherwise he is reason team lost. He can’t shoot. We have seen this movie before. 2-10. It always ends badly. One drive he took in ot was duh blocked. He was lucky he got call.

The stat geeks are going to stat geek.

And if he is, it is fair to expect Pitino to switch the matchup and take advantage of Posh’s shortcomings.

I don’t want to turn this into a kill Posh post, but he has weaknesses. Not a great offensive player (a bad shooter) and for all of his dogged tenacity on defense, he allowed Curbelo being the primary ball handler to get into his head and was never the same player he was the year before.

Posh isn’t gonna kill Jenkins, as his strength is his assist game and others need to score off the passes to rack up assists. It’s our other defenders that I worry about guarding their men. Defensively he’s a pest but we rebound well and Daniss had a height advantage and is also very experienced. That said, I still do like posh and if there was one player I wish we kept it was he.

I used Tokyo because of it's population, not it's location. It has 40 million people in its metro area. DePaul doesn't get eyeballs. Do you think Fordham brings the NYC market to the A-10?

Nashville is a really bad example, because the SEC has already captured the entire state and region with Tennessee, UK, and Alabama. Vanderbilt offers nothing other than academics and basketball. They will not be part of the SEC in 15 years. Northwestern offers the Big 10 even less.

Obviously Chicago matters! It's literally the only thing keeping DePaul in the Big East. But they are becoming completely irrelevant even in that area. If 500 people are showing up to games, how many do you think are tuning in to watch them play Providence? It's Big 10 country and cable is dying quickly so the paradigm is shifting. They need to step it up in a major way and the league needs to apply major pressure. We simply cannot have a team that routinely drags are metrics so far down. Creighton and Gonzaga get way more views in much smaller markets.
It’s not the eyeballs on DePaul or Fordham it is getting into those markets and the amount of eyeballs that have access to your product. They don’t have to be fans of the team in the market, they can be basketball fans period or fans of other teams in your conference. They are not depending on those eyeballs being DePaul fans but basketball fans who might have gone or are fans of other teams within the conference and or just love college basketball or football.

I watch a lot of college football and basketball games of teams I don’t route for because I love the game. So yes, I will watch games on the Big 10, ACC or SEC networks along with the ESPN, CBS Fox, ABC and other networks.

Dana Altman would be a solid choice for DePaul. I know he's on the older site and hasn't been as successful in the last couple of years, but his floor is probably what Thad Matta's is at Butler.

I've seen Will Wades name and my question is, can he actually coach? Everyone can pay players now, so unless he is the type of personality that can raise NIL he isn't going to out recruit anyone else these days.

That's definitely TBD. Will Wade just screams big state school to me. Louisville, Oklahoma State, UCF, West Virginia make more sense to me than DePaul.

That last pass into the crowded (and outnumbered) post that you cite was incredibly stupid. Then again, there've always been issues with Posh's judgement and this was a prime example of it. Luckily for Butler, it didn't backfire and cost them the game.

Posh is gone, but the Posh-bashing persists. Isn't last night's triple double enough to shut some of you up? The circumstances of his departure are cloudy, but when he says he "didn't feel wanted" I tend to believe him. His track record for truth-telling is better than, for example, Rick Pitino's. I'm all in on our current guys, but allowing Posh to leave was Rick's biggest karmic and strategic mistake. A new coach, even a Hall Of Famer, ought to have a little humility, and not fire kids who have spent three years with us, developing relationships, loyalties, etc. I expect either Posh or Kolek to be the first team All Big East PG.....
