Around the Big East

Back in the 90’s St. Johns’s was selling a limited number of “mini courts” of Alumni Hall like UCONN is doing with Gambel (https://www.artsmansport.com/uconng...pavilion-huskies-wood-block-27wr5-mjcga-2eey3). I don’t recall if they were made out of wood of the old court or not. They were selling them at home games. I didn’t think I had the funds to spare at the time but regret not getting on.
holy cow I have one of these. Not one person I know remembers them. My partner at work bought an entire memorabilia collection from someone because the guy had a ton of yankees stuff and he had this st johns one and my buddy gave it to me. I wasn't even sure if it was the real court or carnesescca signing on it until you just posted this

That's awesome! I'm guessing that isn't from the court, but everything else including the signature looks genuine.

St. John's really needs to push this kind of stuff hard with Pitino here, would have actual value outside of just St. John's fans and thus they could charge more. I almost bought the Anderson signed cardboard "fans in the stands" of my wife and I during the COVID season, but fortunately decided against it as they'd be taking up a bunch of space and bringing up bad memories. If Pitino were here? Would've been a guaranteed purchase even at a higher price.

Would actually be cool if St Johns did something similar to what UConn is doing. I'd love to purchase a piece of the court. On that note, wonder how old the playing surface is they are using at CA.

I believe the court was replaced at least once during in the years 1994-2000 when I was there. Probably replaced a few times since.

The Arena is at the bottom of the hill, so during heavy rain storms the court would take on water and eventually warp a bit. Not sure if that issue was ever fixed or not.

Maui field is loaded with Kansas, Syracuse, Purdue, Tennessee, Gonzaga.

I don't think this team is ready for this type of schedule yet, but I really hope this is what the future holds for us in years 2/3/4.

Man that's a hell of a schedule. If they survive that with only 2 losses... def see them top5 to start BE play

Ohhh the irony of a school willing to jeapordize it all to get into a football conference

I think the Big 12 aspires to be the premier basketball conference in America. It's way too late for them to become a power conference in football. Once the B1G and SEC finish poaching the top teams from the ACC, the Big 12, for the most part, will become an afterthought in football, outside of die hards and conference fans.

Oh I agree it’s a great basketball conference and possibly the best. But I don’t think for a second UConn’s basketball program is better suited to succeed in the B12 than they are the BE.

I don’t blame the school for doing it, they’ll make 10x. But it’s not about their basketball program.
