Around the Big East

Hate to say it, but he's as fluid in movement as anyone I've ever seen at his size.
Yeah I don’t disagree. He’s gonna be a problem for everyone. Lucky we will most likely only have to battle him one more year(nba) and have our own big man to counter this season.

Seton Hall announces complete new basketball practice facility, locker rooms, sports medicine area and more 👇

hopefully ours will be announced soon too.
SJU has paid good money on architects for designs and renderings in the past. That has not been the problem.

The issue is the actual construction project itself.

That is what Taffner was. I am not suggesting SJU shouldn't be looking to upgrade their facilities they should.

SHU is about 10 years behind everyone else.

I agree. With Fr. Shanley and Pitino, at the helm, there has never been a better time to go finally push through with bold changes.

Sounds silly, but I am more confident something good happens than not.
Yeah, thank the Dominican “Top Friar” who pulled Shanley from PC & L’Ville top dogs who dumped Rick. Stars never line up at SJU but this time they appear to.

But Taffner is not now or has ever been what it was supposed to be. Hopefully that will change.
Oh yes it was supposed to be better it did get some cosmetic changes as well a few years. Again this is not to defend SJU's facilities, they could definitely and should improve. As part of his commitment to Pitino I believe Fr. Shanley definitely noted that upgrading the facilities would be top priority.

My only point about SHU getting a practice facility is that it is great but literally every high major school and some non-high major schools have done this years ago. As the old saying goes they are 5 years behind at being 5 years behind....But you have to start somewhere.

I agree with your point on the Hall. I was just pointing out Taffner’s continuing shortcomings but they have made some nice cosmetic and physical changes including the in ground physical therapy pool. Some major upgrades/remodelin/renovations (including structural) are still required to bring it up to par and up to date. I know they are working on it an believe everything will come together for this program on and off the court.

Curbelo -Southern Mississippi

Jones -Memphis
Just a note , not to criticize these 2 former Players but, rather the current system.

This is Curbelo’s 3 rd team in as many years , same for Jones . Notice I use Team since using School just doesn’t seem applicable .

The Covid transfer rules and now , NIL have made a mockery of College Athletics . The term Student Athlete is now obsolete as the NCAA has hastened its demise .

How much of a Education are any of these Players today going to get ? Will they get a Degree ? Or , the necessary knowledge to find a Career after their BB playing days are over ?

Sure , Curbelo and Jones and countless others will find BB in Europe or elsewhere for maybe 10 years but , will that be enough to sustain them and their families for the 30 years after that ? I don’t know the answer .

Even , if it does , do they go into Coaching or Teaching ? Probably not , without a Degree.

Maybe the NIL money will help College players but , that’s a short duration income stream .

These are unanswerable questions right now for College Athletics . Let’s see what comes next .

I’m sure there are Colleges, Coaches who are genuinely interested in their Player’s future post BB but , I’m not certain it’s the norm rather than exception .

I just hope NIL doesn’t decline into 1 more exploitation scheme that looks good but , really isn’t . Sure , it pays the Athletes for playing but , does it do anything to provide for their Education ?
