Around the Big East

Market share of what?? A football team that loses money??
To be clear I have no inside or even my opinion on realignment. All I can say is what woukd I do if we got raided because you better have a plan and UConn has wanted to get raided the day they joined us.

Hypothetically Big 12 raids UConn ( weren’t there rumors of them wanting us a few months ago ) what if they poach a couple schools what’s your ideal scenario and if us to Big 12 rumor was legit woukd you want that move ?
If our payout doubled then I couldn't legitimately fault the school. But my choice is to stay as long as Villanova and Georgetown do.

Once the ACC loses Miami, Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame, then it may make sense to merge the ACC and Big East that would dominate college basketball East of the Mississippi.
I personally don't think we need to go west of the Mississippi. Gonzaga IS MARK FEW.
Saint Mary's is Randy Bennett. God knows how attractive those schools will be without them in the NIL world.
Hopefully Big East leadership will get better at TV contract negotiations. If we stay with basketball schools I would only add St. Louis and Dayton if Uconn leaves.
Only legacy football schools make money. For school like Uconn it's fool's gold.
I really wanted to read this but I’m reporting you to Kranmars and Slyfox for eye pain . Use paragraphs !

There are no fewer than seven ACC teams (Magnificent Seven) and a rumored plus one (eight schools, at least) that are rumored to want OUT of the ACC.

I know Miami and FSU's AD were championing their recent discussions with ACC honchos about the so-called progress that was made with future revenue sharing, etc.

I don't buy any of it. In fact, it reminds me of Nick Saban's line, "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach.”

But if they make that much Indy football and aligned all other sports with big east the finance in me thinks that makes sense

ND’s relationship with the failing ACC became attractive to ND because it allows ND football to remain Independent and provides a clearer path to a football national championship and makes ND football eligible for all ACC bowl tie ins.

Without the ACC football affiliation ND would have a much more difficult time getting bowl invites.

The Grant of Rights is seemingly the only thing holding the ACC together. My guess is that UMiami (no longer “Suntan U” but now a very good academic institution), UNC, Virginia and perhaps Georgia Tech (think Atlanta TV rights) would be at the top of the B1G shopping list.

SJU is the square peg in the Big 12 round hole.

I cannot see that rumor being true. The Big 12 wants to make the football side bigger, since they already have the best basketball conference.

The BE would be better served going after the private Catholic schools like Dayton first, and then seeing where things go from there.
Dayton and VCU

I don’t know the answer but really ? They couldn’t make their own schedule ? I don’t know the answer I’m asking

I edited my comments just you!

However, here is a PSA to my fans:
The rocket man does not follow grammatical rules. I subscribe to the free form verse style made popular by other great poets like E.E. Cummings, William Faulkner Alan Ginzberg.

In fact, should Uconn leave, I will HOWL in celebration 🍾

Off the top of my head, Michigan, USC, Stanford, Navy, Boston College, and Ohio State would probably make room for them every single year.

It was rumored that after UConn and whoever else the Big 12 wanted four basketball only schools and that Yormark wanted the NY market and to hold their Conference Tournament at MSG. I believe they were rumored to want St. John’s, Villanova, Georgetown and Gonzaga as basketball only schools. Maybe this was behind Shanley’s big push for Pitino , who knows.

VT, NC State, FSU, and Clemson seem like logical fits for the SEC...

Under that scenario, That leaves Duke, WF, Cuse, Pitt, and BC up for grabs...

So then we gotta hope ND keeps football Indy and get them back in the big east. If we only lose UConn I don’t care but if we lose others as per the original rumor we need some serious countermeasures ready
There isn’t anyone else that I think would go. They all have basketball as its premier sport and the BE fits.

All this could have been averted with 22-team, 5-week playoffs.

10 football conferences with the champ each getting an auto bid. 12 at-large for first round of playoffs so the SEC and Big 10 can stop whining and get Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State in there every damn year.

But the kicker is that all six that advance to week 2, no matter how big their brand, have to go on road to play the MAC champ, Mountain West champ, etc.
