Around the Big East

ND to Big 10 seems inevitable. I can’t see them keeping themselves aligned with a weakened ACC. I think an underrated element of USC getting added to Big 10 was another recruitment pitch of this being the natural conference fit for them.

Ultimately I hope the final product for college football is a relegation style format with the SEC and Big 10, where the PAC/Big 12/ACC are feeders. It’s kind of how it’s working now, but it’ll be a lot more fun and interesting once it’s formalized

The big 10 has either signed or is the final stages of negotiating a ninety million dollar tv contract for all members. If ND comes on board that will go over a hundred million annually.
That is three times what ND gets now and gives them a better path to the playoff. Hard to turn down.

Not sure why ND keeps clinging to being independent. Are there still that many old people there keeping it alive, or is it something that keeps getting passed down from generation to generation?

ND BIg10 is a natural fit given geographical location and some long standing rivalries. Also plays many other sports versus Big 10 teams (they're in Big 10 hockey league). ND would demand Big 10 Network revenue equal to originals and not available to the likes of Rutgers and Maryland.

Ther have been on and off discussions between the B1G and ND over the past decades and the B1G has steadfastly refused to provide any special concessions to ND.

If the ACC implodes as many expect then ND will need the B1G more than the B1G needs ND.

If ND makes unreasonable demands to the B1G then it could state Independent and continue to play with the ACC leftovers or join the less academics in the B12 or SEC.

But if they stayed Indy why would it be more advantageous to stay with a blown up ACC over putting hoops in a dominant Big East ?

It's like asking the fat ugly girl on a date because she has a nice car (Uconn basketball) and she has an easy girlfriend (Uconn football) that you intend to screw over and over again.
In the end, both girls get screwed.

The Big 10 targeted RU not because they like the school or because they think anyone in the N.Y. market cares about RU (they don’t). It got the B10 network as part of most basic cable packages. I’m not sure if the B12 is there already. But that would be the attraction for certain markets.

Article on UConn and status of upgrades to Gampel Pavilion

So the shelf life of their roll back seats is only 30 years? They should have used the ones we used as ours are over 60 years old with no plans in sight to replace them. 🤪
