Around the Big East

From your list, Clemson and FL State are the most appealing (with Miami close behind). But I think the SEC would try to take them first.

Yes, they would need to work out an arrangement with South Carolina and Florida, but money wins out.

That’s where the other schools are left scrambling.
Yeah. I think Big 10 is serious about the AAU stuff, and will go after UNC and Virginia. I've read they're desperate to get some type of foothold in Florida, so Florida State and Miami would be huge for that (but they aren't AAU-affiliated). Maybe Georgia Tech is a sleeper for the Atlanta market + new recruiting for football as well. I can see Va Tech fitting in fine with the SEC, they've been consistently good in football for awhile now.

I definitely think some of these ACC schools are absolutely dead in the water. I don't feel bad at all for Boston College.

Agree, Duke football is superior to UConn. But I more meant that Duke football, similarly to UConn football, does not move the needle for the Big 12.
Duke is one of the richest private universities in America. Uconn is one of the poorest publics.
There is no comparison.

That’s great, if the discussion was about endowments and alumni net worth.

But this is about certain ACC schools possibly being poached by the Big 12, SEC, or BIG 10.

And....my response was Duke doesn't need the football money! They are not a financially strapped state school or dependent on tax dollars.
Schools like Duke, Uconn and Kansas and a few other "non--football centric" schools could actually form an independents football league with schools like Notre Dame and join the Big East.😉

If UConn flees again..... then that would mean they end up paying $3.5M to get back into the Big East, $30M to get out of the Big East and then helped secure $30M in NCAA units to the BE in its championship run.

Plus the majority of UConn fans will flip out.

Everyone wins!
Man, I hope this happens. UConn’s recruiting budget far outpaces any small non football school in the Big East. The Big East as constituted after UCONN and Syracuse is a great league of similar schools who’s first sports commitment is basketball.

Nothing says East Coast basketball like Ames Iowa and Lubbock Texas…yee ha! Giddy up Yukon fans!

I really think the Big 12 plans to bring all the old Big East football schools into a monster-size conference, killing the ACC in the process as the Big 10 and SEC grab the rest.

The Big 12 is the only one between them the ACC and the Pac 12 that has a chance of surviving and becoming the third mega conference.

And how much do they pay to get into the Big 12?

Another benefit of them leaving is that their doormat FB team will continue years of lousy football and their fans will have to witness the slaughter.

Hypothetically Big 12 raids UConn ( weren’t there rumors of them wanting us a few months ago ) what if they poach a couple schools what’s your ideal scenario and if us to Big 12 rumor was legit woukd you want that move ?
