Around the Big East

Now that our recruiting for 23/24 is over I am just curious who everyone thinks are the EARLY favorites in the Big East.

Top Dog.
Yukon as the NC is the top dog. No pun intended.

Contenders:
After that I think it’s a grouping of Creighton, Villanova, Marquette and Xavier.

Chance to be Contenders:
St. John’s, Providence

Rebuilding or not there yet
Georgetown, Butler, Seton Hall, DePaul

I want to make us contenders but so much turnover it’s hard. I do think Pitino gets it done and we dance in March. I might be overrating Villanova but they still get talent. Cooley is a snake but he’s a good Coach. GTown might be moving up depending on how they finish recruiting. Haven’t followed the Hall much or heard much about upgrades.

Way, way early but just wondering if anyone has any thoughts where we stand in the Big East?

I've been wondering the same. I love what Coach P and staff have done overall, but the Big East will be brutal. We should be competitive, but where we end up placing is anyone's guess at this point. Might depend on injuries, how the guys mesh together, Joel staying out of foul trouble, how Dingle handles the ball if need be and dishes, and what we end up getting out of the 4 spot. It'll be fun!!!!

Just make sure they sign the exit Check for the FULL amount of what they agreed for re-entry. I never wanted them back because they have football aspirations. They have a good CBB program but they don’t belong here. We have no football fantasy dreams. Of course they will become as irrelevant in basketball just like the old AAC fiasco. Good riddance.

Tier 1: UConn, Marquette. Tier 2: Xavier, St John’s, Creighton. Tier 3: Providence, Villanova, Georgetown, Butler. Tier 4: Seton Hall, DePaul
I think that is generally right but I think you are shortchanging Nova. They really played well second half of last year and have had a good off season. They will be a Tourney team next year.

The Big 12 must be desperate.
I don't understand how Uconn could have such a huge deficit. Then again if you factor in the cost of 85 FBS scholarships, they obviously have been spending beyond their means to support football. They could cut their deficit in half by just eliminating football!!!
Most of the schools in the 12 are west of the Mississippi. The athletic teams would have double their travel expenses.
I don't see it happening but hope it does because their football team would become sacrificial lambs and possibly create a negative national reputation.

Gampel may not be option but the tax payers of Conn. who give millions very year to the university to keep the sports programs going should wonder why it’s not.
