Around the Big East

Fordham (11-1) and Iona (6-2) would have been better choices than Merrimack and Lafayette.
I don't know who says no to a Metro-Area Classic... 8 local teams... MSG... would be a fun event every year:
-SJU
-Rutgers
-Seton Hall
-Iona
-Hofstra
-Fordham

Rotate 2 other locals each year.... think ticket sales would be solid... 4 games/day for 3 days.... Old school Holiday Festival type vibes.

Wouldn't incoude Seton Hall -- we already play them twice a year, possibly three times if we meet in the BET. Might want to include Manhattan.

Dude, I'm not sure what you're problem is, but you need to learn to read, you seem to have a little attitude and act like you know me, and I don't even know who you are. For those that can read I said he's THE BEST, I didn't say he was the most accurate by percentage in 2022. When someone is the best that includes their ENTIRE body of work over their entire career not just in the moment, Lunardi has been projecting the field consistently and being very accurate for over 25 years, nobody else has his resume, that's why he's considered the best, that's why he gets paid the big bucks and the other guys just do it for fun, it isn't because of some conspiracy narrative that ESPN came up with that you made up in your head. ✌️
So “best” is defined by prior body of work rather than present ability? Tom Brady is the best ever QB, but I don’t he’s the best QB today. Same for Lunardi, right?

You can't judge the best tomato by looking at the seed. You need to let it grow over time and then you get an answer.

All of these rankings/projections are mental masturbation. Wait until there is a tomato. We are still in the plant stage.

Sorry, there's no juice to this event. Casual fans will yawn, stay home, watch "A Christmas Story" for the 9,736th time. And none of these programs have enough juice to draw their own lackadaisical fanbase out.

Keep it simple and small.

Bring back the old ECAC Holiday Fest: St. John's, a national power and two locals. Attendance was always decent. National power school will bring a lot of fans looking to spend Xmas in NYC.

Two games or one? Idk if power schools would travel for one game vs a local and one vs at John’s.

The old Holiday Festival had 8 teams, and was considered the best holiday tournament in the country back in the day.

Not worth getting into a pages long argument about Lunardi but the link with the rankings isn't just 2022 it's a 5 year weighted average and he still doesn't crack the top 80. By your logic Jim Boeheim would be considered THE BEST coach in college basketball right now. Obviously ESPN isn't going to kick him to the curb when he's the only one casuals know and he knows how to talk on TV.

Anyway, this is another pretty cool to use for some bracket projections especially this far out. Currently projects the Big East at 4.4 bids which seems reasonable.

Yet, you went out of your way to start the argument and say I'm making stuff up, when I wasn't even talking to you. You were the only person that took me saying Lundardi is the best in the business as I meant literally at this moment he's the most accurate bracketologist. He's been doing it the longest, he's the most popular, and he's the most cited when referring to bracketology that's why I said that. You seem like the type of guy that if someone gave you a recommendation to go eat somewhere and said the food is the best, you'd read 100 google reviews before going, then decide not to go because you read like 3 negative reviews.

Anyways, this my last response to this, this is a dumb argument, I don't even know why I entertained you. Have a good day.

Was Jim Boeheim ever "the best" college coach? That arguable. That said, is he any less of a coach than he once was, or is it simply that his players aren't as good as they used to be -- like Pearl, Coleman, Seikaly, Wallace? So maybe, he's still a great coach, but not the recruiter he used to be.

Boeheim 2-3 zone is less effective in 2022 than it was a decade or two ago because

1. Kids can shoot from the 3 point line better than they could 20 years ago, and

2. He is not getting the same across the board quality of talent he once did.

I am told by a source close to Boeheim that he fully intends to be back next season.

That's actually a good example, some people like Skip Bayless, still refer to Tom Brady as the current best QB, even though statistically right now he's not the best, not even close. The same way some people still refer to LeBron as the best basketball player even though he's been declining the last few years. Best is subjective.... you can go by all time, current, past, strictly by stats, popularity, etc. different people have different ways they define who is the best at something.

😂

Agree with comments 1 and 2. I would add 3:He can no longer effectively trap out of the 2-3 zone due to court being spaced allowing for better passing lanes out of traps.4. With the court being spaced more the back end of the zone allows for many more over the top alley -oop passes. 5. His kids play no man to man defense and have very limited man to man defensive principles when they get to the next level. 6. The zone does not allow for teams to play a more up tempo style of play which is less attractive today to recruits.
