Around the Big East

There are a number of Georgetown boosters who are ready to make a run at Pitino. They are working behind the scenes.

2 issues:

1) How to move on from Ewing without offending him and

2) Get the very buttoned up conservative Georgetown Admin on board for Pitino.

Xavier also has experience on their side. They have 8 kids playing double-digit minutes and they are nearly all upperclassmen. This is an advantage that cannot be understated.

December 28th at Carnesecca will be a tough game.

Creighton losses 4 in a row. Just lost to mighty BYU, who just recently lost to South Dakota and Utah Valley.

And this is why games are played rather than worrying about SOS, Rankings, AP Poll, and all that other fan service in early December. People declared this year in BE it was Creighton and everybody else just a month ago. However they've looked very mediocre these past couple weeks, Johnnies would beat them on a neutral court if they played tomorrow, IMO.

Two of those losses were very close games against teams that are going to be 1 or 2 seeds in the tourney. The Nebraska loss wasn't great, sure but Creighton was missing Kalkbrenner against BYU tonight. They'll be fine as long as they stay relatively healthy.

They have two wins that are MILES better than any win SJU has at this point. If fully healthy they are still on a completely different than SJU right now.

I was told on this board after the NH win that missing a starter is no excuse for a poor performance and that good teams don't struggle and if they do that means they won't make the tournament. So by that logic, Creighton lost to a bad BYU team, they don't make the tournament. ;)

But in all seriousness, this is how some posters sound. If a team struggles or doesn't beat a team by 30 points they think it means they are a bad team. They don't understand everybody had good basketball players and anybody on any given night can be upset if they don't bring their A game. I wouldn't put any money on who finishes 2-7 in this league.

add a third issue for Georgetown to deal with:

3) terminate the (Ronny) Thompson issue

MP, I just don’t like the progress our team has made this season. They play too many games playing poorly in the first half, especially. And there seems to be a lack of consistent play. CMA seems to sleepwalk through the first half, frequently not using timeouts. Last game he calls a timeout with less than 4 seconds remaining and the team come out and looks confused. I don’t see us in post season unless things improve with BE schedule beginning. CMA and the team need to step it up.

We'll agree to disagree. I didn't see many people project this team to only have 1 loss in the non-conference when the schedule released, most people said 9-2 or 8-3. Now that they are 10-1 through first 11 games, the goal posts move and they "don't look good" when most games have been blowouts in their favor, including the conference opener. I'll take blowout wins that look bad than a good looking loss any day of the week.

And every team minus probably the 5-10 best teams in the country doesn't look good early season, that's why you see upsets every single night, do you seriously think BYU and Nebraska are better than Creighton? They had a bad couple weeks, that happens, and Creighton is a good basketball team with veteran players. That's why the college basketball season is 5 months long and not 2 weeks long. Come March the AP Poll, NET, Kenpom, all of that stuff you guys are stressing about right now, it's going to look completely different than it does today.
