Around the Big East

Per Connecticut Insider....
I really enjoyed the article, thanks for posting
Just a few random thoughts:
After years of being the "Cadillac of the B.E.", I can't see Villanova dropping to fourth this year
I believe that Hurley is a very good recruiter but an overrated bench coach - they are ranked too high
I do like us being ranked fifth but I also think that Providence is, as usual, underrated once again

Per Dave Borges who covers UConn

“The Huskies currently boast the No. 2-rated 2023 recruiting class in the nation, per 247Sports, in Stephon Castle, Solomon Ball and Jayden Ross. UConn was all over highly-touted, four-star forward Scotty Middleton at an EYBL event in Kansas City this past week, and Middleton said he hopes to commit sometime this week. Either way, UConn has shifted its focus for 2023 targets to frontcourt players.”

Say what you will about UConn being good for the league. BS...... To the contrary, the league has been good to them and their recruiting success is proof. Why Val Ackerman would let a state school with unlimited resources back in the league is beyond many. The argument that the league would not have had as good a TV package is not proven as the package was substantial to their inclusion prior as well. Val did no favor to local schools like St John's and the Hall, no matter which way you slice it.

Read that ND is negotiating with NBC re the value of televising their football games when the current contract ends. If ND can get 75 million per year, they could remain independent in football. The Big East would be a possible landing spot for most of their remaining sports. Not a big fan of ND, but would prefer them to Uconn.

I'd be fine having them back with hoops

Notre Dame's all about Notre Dame, period. If it would benefit them financially and prestige wise to join or leave a conference they'd do it in a heartbeat, not looking back or caring about how it affected the other members. They've shown that before.

Screw them and cuse and yukon too.

I don’t want to see ND in the BE. MSG would no longer be our home game vs. them.

This take is 100% correct. As I've been saying for years, the notion of what UConn brings to the BE has always been way overblown. If they were such a big draw for TV, the ACC or Big 10 would have gobbled them up years ago.
