Around the Big East

UConn football coach Jim Mora is apparently pitching membership in ACC in two years to recruits per Middletown press in Ct. I would gladly help them pack if that happens with all the conference movement now. Lesson learned hopefully for Val to avoid football school additions in the future.

The ACC if it even still exists will look pretty much like what the Big East football looked like close to the end.

I think Syracuse, Pitt, BC, and Va Tech might be struggling to find a home. Also read an article the other day that W.Va. might be left out in the cold from a Pac-12-Big 12 merger. Throw in Louisville and what did those schools really get out of leaving all these years later?

UAB dropping football was very temporary (few years) and they have come back strong although their coach who received a lot of credit for their resurgence just had to retire for health reasons.

$30 million exit fee if it were to leave any time within its first six years in the league.
Lessons to be learned about UCONN. Tsxpayets of Connecticut foot the Bill for the $ 30 million . It’s what State schools do when they want new Stadiums , Arenas, etc . Deep pockets . Second lesson for BE Administration , if UCONN defects again , don’t EVER think of readmitting them ! Fool them twice , shame on you Val Ackerman .

But don't forget to highlight the positives if UConn were to leave again. The conference will be $30 million richer, adding UConn back led to a new TV deal with Fox, and the Big East will not be harmed at all by their departure. Plus their are good candidates to replace them.

Three sure things in life, death, taxes and Conn trying to beg their way into a football conference. If the ACC does accept them the next day they will be contacting the Big Ten and the SEC hoping for admittance.
If they do jump the Big East will spend tons of money and time trying to get

Per Dave Borges who covers UConn

“The Huskies currently boast the No. 2-rated 2023 recruiting class in the nation, per 247Sports, in Stephon Castle, Solomon Ball and Jayden Ross. UConn was all over highly-touted, four-star forward Scotty Middleton at an EYBL event in Kansas City this past week, and Middleton said he hopes to commit sometime this week. Either way, UConn has shifted its focus for 2023 targets to frontcourt players.”

Breaking: 2023 four-star Tafara Gapare has decommitted from DePaul, he tells @On3Recruits.

The 6-10 New Zealand native previously considered Maryland, Illinois, Virginia Tech, UConn, along with the Overtime Elite league and the Australian NBL

We're last four byes. FSU is first four out. That makes for a potentially huge non-conference game on 12/17.
FSU is coming to Canada in August and I will watch them play McGill University and report back. I know that Oregon ( with 2 BrookwoodElite Montreal kids transferred in ) and University of Vermont are also scheduled for mid August.
