Around the Big East

It remains to be seen if that BE tourney championship becomes a mirror image of the Hatten NIT win. Did more harm than good.
Can’t compare. Jarvis took us to an Elite 8 and we were a 2 sees the following year. We also made the tournament with Hatten his first year. Winning the NIT was not an aberration

Although I went to the finals of that NIT (I don’t recall if I went to the semis) and supported that team, I remember complaining on the old Board how that was considered a success when the year before with basically the same team, we were dancing. I don’t want to derail the thread, but Jarvis comments about being one of two teams winning a national championship that year makes my blood boil even now.

Yeah and they were 15-12 going into the BET. 16-13 into the NIT. STJ still owned a piece of the NIT at that time. That might have also saved Jarvis' job, unfortunately.

Checked the field and there were a lot of teams with similar records so maybe not. Gtown who STJ beat in the finals got in at 14-14. There were 40 teams and not low major automatic qualifiers. Lots of high major teams with mediocre records.

Ang Hatten was not an aberration, but Jarvis's success was.

Zagoria;

UConn continued to add to its recruiting haul in the Class of 20232 with the addition of four-star shooting guard Solomon “Solo” Ball of Brewster (N.H.) Academy.

Ranked the No. 11 shooting guard by 247Sports.com, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Ball chose the Huskies over USC, DePaul, Miami and Providence. He took an official visit to the Big East school June 24-26.

This kid is quite a find and talent, killed it last year for Creighton. Bluejays with solid returnees and tremendous transfer in Scheierman from South Dakota St seem poised to be a Final Eight or possibly better Dance team, depending on draw Of course.

UConn football coach Jim Mora is apparently pitching membership in ACC in two years to recruits per Middletown press in Ct. I would gladly help them pack if that happens with all the conference movement now. Lesson learned hopefully for Val to avoid football school additions in the future.

I would guess this would come with a hefty exit fee as well
