Around the Big East

IMO, UConn’s season turned around when Hurley started running their offense around Cole. Glad he’s gone

I didn’t expect him to come back but good chance he would have been the best lead guard in the conference. Posh will definitely be in the conversation but there’s still some good ones.

I really can't wait until these free Covid years are over. This kid has already been in college for 5 years and played 4. The fact that he could have come back for a 6th college year just doesn't feel right. I know many others have that exact same situation.

I hear you but am hopeful we are the beneficiary of that rule regarding Wheeler.

I'm not a yukon fan (understatement), but last nights women's game 2 OT thriller against NC St., was one of the best college games I've ever seen.  Both teams hit pressure shot after pressure shot, played great D and actually ran plays!  If you can find it, watch the last 5 minutes of regulation and the OTs.

Please don’t come back. And Sanogo next
Would love to see Sanogo leave, as a Johnnies fan, but I do think he can up his value by coming back.

He needs to put on about 20 pounds of muscle.  Had a lot of layup attempts blocked/altered, or just plain missed, because he couldn't go up strong.  Had a lot of rebounds deflect off his hands for the same reason.

If he can get stronger, he'll be unstoppable next year.

He’s kind of in between for the next level but I’ve never thought strength was his issue.

Common read is Sanogo returns

I like to look at NBADraft.net for mock drafts. They've been doing it for well over a decade and are usually pretty accurate and on the pulse of things. I found it interesting that only one Big East player is projected to be drafted this year, and that's Champagnie in the mid 2nd round.

Connecticut G Rahsool Diggins has entered the transfer portal. verbalcommits.com/players/rahsoo…

Hurley setting his sights on a roster made to play "4 out around one big man" reminds me of a thought I had after seeing a recent stat.  It was that Nova has more NCAA Tournament wins than any other program since 2016.

It's surprising more programs haven't copied their offensive approach.  Not just the 4-out/1-in, but the minimizing fouls, pump fakes, and recruiting big guards that can back into the lane, shoot, pass and rebound.  They say the NFL is a copy-cat league.  I guess NCAA basketball.....not so much.

The fundamentals and discipline it takes is unreal and usually not synonymous with 5 star talent. I can only imagine the preparation and focus it takes to build those habits. And while it’s not unheard of it’s rare to see nova rely on freshmen. Just a very unique situation and one I’m more envious of by the day.

These coaches stick with what got to them to where they are.  Evolution of college coaches doesn't really happen in basketball (or other sports).

watched some of the mcdonalds all America game last night. The new kid for Villanova, Cam Whitmore, is pretty good. Has an NBA body. Played very well last night with 19pts. will probably terrorize us

A lot has been made about the lack of depth that  Villanova had this year . Essentially going with a 6 man rotation .  I thought losing Swider to Syracuse hurt them and this is the first year I can remember where they didn’t have a blue chip freshman or sophomore contributing .  Judging from other comments , they have some pretty heavy talent coming in next season .  Not that anyone worries about Nova being able to compete .  It’s pretty much a given .

UConn junior Jalen Gaffney plans to transfer, according to his father, AD. He played the role of back-up point guard and appeared in 87 career games for the Huskies, averaging 4.0 points this past season.
@GavinKeefe

Two guards in portal in two days, knowing Hurley he has ins with some stud on transfer list.

Plus Cole declaring for the draft....leaves backcourt barren....for now.
