Around the Big East

Wow that has got to hurt. The hits keep on coming for Patrick Ewing.

He was the only bright spot for them this year and sounds like he's out the door.
big guard size but not quick and doesn’t shoot well. I’m sure I’m missing something but don‘t see it.

Ed Cooley names Naismith coach of the year. He deserved it even though the average age of his roster was like 32
Cooley named Naismith Coach of Year . Wow! His players date back to Naismith , who saw Watson , Durham , Bynum , Reeves , etc all play back in the day . Peach baskets !

No idea if any teeth this tim, but if the logistics work out its the only add that makes sense to help significantly boost FOX contract renewal negotiations.
Agree. If 12 is inevitable, and you have a chance with gonzaga, they are the one.

Gonzaga to the Big East is tough but would be workable on a Men's Basketball only basis. I can't see how it would be feasible for non-revenue sports to have to travel that far, that often.

No more Media saying P5 conferences... Add Zaga, BE should be right up there.

Think this has been discussed in other threads- but a BE East and BE West could be cool - play your division twice- play the other once. 7/7 split would yield 19 conf games.

FYI I am declaring for the draft too. But seriously can someone explain why he would even say that? Just hire an agent and figure out a way to get a job in Europe.

good for him... but it's kind of played out with the kids "declaring" like they're actually heading to the NBA vs. just hoping to get picked. Rather just see a kid's statement just being along the lines of not returning and looking to pursue professional bball options.

They’d have to change the conference name to Big Nation.

Regarding potential BE expansion, I am in favor of VCU or Dayton. Not the splash that Gonzaga would make, but perhaps more realistic.

I agree 100% with Dayton - fits our profile very well. Private, Catholic, basketball-first.

Gonzaga - while it also shares those characteristics - makes no sense from a logistics perspective. They would be competing in all sports - not just mens basketball - and nothing about a trip across country for every non-revenue sport at every other BE school makes any sense. And don’t forget that EVERY road trip Gonzaga makes would make would be at least 1500 miles and over half would be clear across the country.
