Around the Big East

I was thinking about the various BE staffs that have someone with ties to the DMV. DePaul has Bino Ranson, Georgetown has Nickelberry, Butler now has MIke Pegues, Nova always recruits that area well regardless but they have Dwayne Anderson, Shaka Smart has strong ties from his VCU days,

Xavier had a guy named Jordan Brooks as a "Recruiting Coordinator" with ties to the area actually played for Nickelberry at Hampton. Not sure if Miller is going to keep him on the staff.

Would love for CMA to find a way to add someone from that area to SJU staff.
Thats where a good athletic director comes into play in making this suggestion as a means of ramping up an area that needs help....recruiting.

Tristen Newton one of the better guards in the Portal headed to UCONN.

All-AAC guard Tristen Newton commits to UConn

East Carolina transfer Tristen Newton, one of the best guards in the portal, committed to UConn on Wednesday.
"I fit the role they need," Newton told ESPN. "We are going to have one of the best backcourts in the nation with guys like Jordan Hawkins, Andre Jackson and myself, along with the best big in the Big East with Adama Sanogo. I feel as if there's no reason we shouldn't be one of the best teams in the country."
Newton visited the Storrs campus this past weekend and opted to end his recruitment after one trip.

How does DePaul do this?

DePaul head coach Tony Stubblefield announced that Zion Cruz and Da’Sean Nelson have signed during the spring signing period.

Cruz is ranked among the nation’s top 50 players in the class of 2022 while Nelson is among the nation’s top 20 junior college players.

Not sure how much it means anyway regarding Nelson. As I remember, both Moore and Cole came in as heralded JUCO players, and we all know how they worked out.

They do this because they have a quality coach now along with a brand new arena right in the city of Chicago .

Yeah, that's all it is.

Exactly lol, when situations like this come up, it's almost naive to assume that some form of cheating isn't involved. Everything could very well be clean here, but certainly something seems off.

And their arena is hard to get to and never filled, particularly with no students. Wintrust does sell beer though.

Stubblefield was an assistant at Cincinnati and Oregon where he recruited well as an assistant coach for both programs plus he’s at a school with brand new facilities in a major market where kids can probably do well NIL wise. Doesn’t mean there’s something nefarious going on.

I don’t understand why when one of our Big East rivals scores on a good recruit there always people insinuate that there is some other reason rather than hard work and good recruiting. They did a good job and move on
Well put, but if you think about it, it's not hard to figure out why there are such negative responses.

There's been cheating at Oregon forever, and Altman is dirty. Whether or not NIL changes that, we'll see. It should change it, but as I just said, we'll see.

I've never insinuated cheating at Villanova, Providence, Creighton, Butler, Marquette, Georgetown, Seton Hall, or Xavier.

But I guess we'll see what happens at Xavier moving forward.
