UConn junior Jalen Gaffney plans to transfer, according to his father, AD. He played the role of back-up point guard and appeared in 87 career games for the Huskies, averaging 4.0 points this past season.

We were interested four years ago, right? I feel like a lot of these kids who thumbed their noses at St. John's would have been way better off coming here.

Again, St. John's would have been much better off had UConn not been invited back in the league. They are a state school with unlimited resources and are hammering St. John's on the recruiting front. Did Ackerman and company even ask the braintrust at St. John's or the Hall how it may impact their programs? And for those who argue it's better for the league, hogwash, as St. John's fans my priority is what's best for the St. John's program not the league as a whole and so far their admittance into the conference has been anything but beneficial to St. John's.

Seton Hall's Ikey Obiagu tells me that he will not be using his additional year of eligibility and won't return to school next season.

Averaged 3.2 BPG this past season.

The conference powers that be could give a rat's ass what SJU administrators thought about UCONN coming back. It was all about raising the national prominence of the conference and making the conference more appealing when the negotiations for a new Fox Sports TV contract come up.

Like it or not from SJU perspective, UCONN raises the appeal of the conference with their 4 National Championships.

What SJU administrators should really worry about is trying to improve their own house after three decades of mostly losing. They as a group have FAILED MISERABLY at that

Another potential blow to GT

Georgetown’s star freshman Aminu Mohammed will declare for the 2022 NBA Draft, sources told @Stockrisers, and will be 100% committed to the pre-draft process.

A return to Georgetown still an option, but, Mohammed, 100% committed to the draft.

While Ackerman pushed for their admittance, the schools vote on who is in and UCONN carried enough votes to be admitted.  Back in the 80's, for reasons you mentioned, Penn State did not receive admittance because they did not receive enough votes to be admitted (St. John's and Georgetown are two schools who voted no).

Xavier is a 4.5 point underdog to Texas A&M in tonight's NIT championship game, but BPI gives the Musketeers a 53.7% chance of victory.

Wow that has got to hurt.  The hits keep on coming for Patrick Ewing.

He was the only bright spot for them this year and sounds like he's out the door.

Mohammed hurts but it is not unexpected.  It is not the same as him transferring.  When you recruit a 5 star kid then you can't expect him to stick around very long.  Those kids are looking for a quick path to the NBA.

But Ewing is going to hit the portal hard with Nickelberry and I assume many of those LSU kids are going to be prime targets.

Word is Judah Mintz is a heavy DePaul lean. Would team with Zion Cruz as a pair of top 50 players.

DePaul and Stubblefield killing with Zion Cruz and now this kid. Weren’t Macon and Vetrone supposed to be our guys with respect to recruiting? Where are these guys?
Stubby will have Depaul as one of the top teams in the big east if not next year, the following year.  That was a program changing hire for them.

DePaul is now dead in the water, as well as Stubblefield.

This article is very reminiscent of articles written about our local recruiting in the past. Intersting quote from a DMV grassroots coach tho regarding SJU presence with DC kids

"I just don’t think Georgetown is appealing to these guys right now,” said Douglas. “An offer from Providence is better than Georgetown. They’d rather play for [Ed] Cooley right now than go to Georgetown. St. John’s is starting to look attractive to these guys.”
