Around the Big East

I agree I don't think he will lose his job.

I wouldn't mind picking off some members of his staff, he has some good recruiters.

I think Xavier keeps Steele around for another year.  He has the 15th ranked recruiting class (2nd ranked in the Big East), including three 4-star freshmen.

That said.....seat will be hot.

Seeing Georgetown on as a National CBS game even as they were predicted to be bad and are going thru a historically bad season should tell you that job and that brand still has some juice.

Man they have a really tough decision.  Obviously if it was anyone but Patrick that decision would have been made awhile ago.

I don’t think that Ewing is going anywhere(unless he wants to). Famous Alumni plus he won the Big East tourney last year.

Jeff Goodman

Georgetown now 6-22 overall and 0-17 in Big East play.

Patrick Ewing IS Georgetown basketball, but the best thing for this once-storied program and its future is for him to step down after season.

Similar overall results as another Hall of Famer: Chris Mullin at St. John’s.

Patrick Ewing on his future as #Hoyas coach: "Of course I want to be back here, but in this position, in this job, whatever happens will happen. I’m hoping I’ll be back and doing something that I love at a place that I love and getting us back to being the king of the hill.”

So our game vs X is essentially for 7th place in the league vs 8th place
Huge stakes. It's for all the marbles.
Not that I think we will go on a BE Tournament run anyway, but we would have a better chance of doing so, IMO, as the 8th seed.

That would mean (unless something crazy happens), Butler on Wednesday (outside of Georgetown, I think we match up better with them than anybody else), followed by a Providence team that would not have played in over a week (could be rusty, and we were competitive in both games against them).

The 7 seed means Depaul (who we can beat, but they have shown they can keep up with us), followed by Villanova, who until the 5 minute mark of the second game, has handled us pretty easily.

Like I said, a run is almost certainly not in the cards for us, but to have any chance, the above scenario gives us more hope, IMO.

That means tank this game on Wednesday!  I, of course, will be a big hypocrite, and root for us to win, because I know no other way.

@CasualHoya
One thing clear from Patrick Ewing’s postgame comments yesterday is that while he certainly wants to be Georgetown’s coach next season, he hasn’t been told by the powers that be that he will return. Stay tuned.

Patrick Ewing sounds like he knows his Georgetown tenure is finished

Hard not to agree

“Seton Hall is going to be dancing for the fifth time in the last six tournaments, and it is happening despite the absence of top guard Bryce Aiken (concussion) over the last six weeks. This has been typical Willard. His team isn’t always easy on the eyes. It hits a January speed bump. But when it matters the most, the Pirates find a way. They may even wind up with a first-round bye in the Big East Tournament with a 2-0 week against Georgetown and Creighton. Memo to Seton Hall fans: Appreciate Willard and his many on-the-fly adjustments.”

Makes the plight of this program even more frustrating. Seton Hall must recruit against SJU and Rutgers with poorer facilities, but manages to get results.

If you think Seton Hall has inferior facilities to SJU and Rutgers then you are woefully misinformed.

I never thought I'd say this:

I am jealous of Providence.

There I said it and it hurt.

I've gotten over being jealous of Villanova since their three NCs and two very recent ones, they flew passed us a long time ago. Plus, I like Wright, but don't like Cooley, just envy his success at a much smaller school, in a much smaller city, but they have been so much better than us in the last decade.

Seton Hall too. We've sorta become the DePaul of the BE.

Playing home games at the Prudential Center in the middle of Newark isn’t exactly a popular destination. But if they have better campus facilities than SJU and Rutgers, then you are right and I am misinformed. Haven’t been to Seton Hall in a long time.

The SHU job is widely considered to be the worst/hardest or next to worst/hardest job in the conference.

He has done a more than admirable job. They were very patient with him part of that is they don't have much choice.
