Around the Big East

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but doesn't it seem a little strange that the Big East didn't do more to make up some of the lost Covid games? If Villanova beats Butler Saturday, Providence would have needed to win at Creighton, Seton Hall and home against UCONN to come in 1st place. I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter much and there was only so much you can do but it doesn't feel right.

Paultz refresh my memory; who were the posters who were saying that it's a good thing we didn't get Cockburn(although I once did by laying out in the sun in bike shorts, for real) because he'd never fit in to CMA's style of play? lol

The author John Feinstein was on a radio program this morning saying he heard Ewing was retiring at the end of this season.

Was reading the Xavier message board and, unsurprisingly, posters want Steele out.  Common thread is they're tired of the late season collapses.  Most interesting is a majority want to bring back Sean Miller.  One poster claims to have a sources and says Miller is interested, while another claims to have heard Pitt will make Miller a priority after firing Capel.

Who knows what's true, but it's fun to read.  Here's the link in case anyone is interested:  XavierHoops

When is the last time Xavier fired a coach?

The 5 coaches prior to Steele all left Xavier for a bigger program.

Gillen left for Providence he was followed by Skip Prosser who left for Wake and was followed by Matta who left for Ohio St and was followed by Sean Miller who left for Arizona and was followed by Mack who left for Louisville and now Steele. That's a lot of success that Steele is competing against.

Good point, Fordham.  And, the fact that some previous coaches left for bigger jobs makes the Xavier job more attractive.
