Lord knows you never wish bad on any kid but I really hope he is ok. I would like to beat them at full strength on Wednesday for a real meaningful win. That is the second possible starter who will not play against us for the Bluejays while we appear to be healthy , excluding Pinzonnwho has not practiced in a long while. Conversely we have lost a few without Posh, Champ and Pinzon that had we won we would clearly be in the conversation.
On to the most important game of the season.

Glad Creighton won their fifth in a row. They may have been more focused against us coming off a loss.

Unless there is an unforeseen development, the Big East season will end with a handful of significant games not being played due to earlier COVID-19 pauses that may impact the postseason. Creighton, firmly on the bubble, will not make up its home game with No. 8 Providence. St. John’s, trying to play its way into the tournament picture, will not play its home game with Marquette. And Providence, the league leader at this moment, isn’t expected to play the aforementioned Creighton game or visit Seton Hall or host No. 24 Connecticut.

According to sources, the league discussed playing games the Monday before the conference tournament begins, but it was agreed upon not to do so. These games were not able to be made up because there wasn’t time to fit them in under the parameters that were set. That includes teams not playing three games the final week of the regular season or having consecutive weeks with three games in a single week. Those parameters could only be bypassed if both teams agreed, and that didn’t happen in these instances.

But the league is only hurting itself by not making sure the games are played. St. John’s and Creighton lose out on résumé-building games while Providence may end up the regular-season champion despite a much easier schedule than others. More should’ve been done, and still could be, to get these games in.

It really is a shame and, as Zach mentioned, the league is only hurting itself.  Personally, I have not been enamored by the current Big East leadership even prior to this mishandling.

I wish the BET started on Tuesday, Wednesday an off day, then Thursday-Saturday.

Then you cut the benefit of the teams in the top 5, in particular the top 3 who not only get an extra day off before starting the tournament, but it gives the lower 6 a benefit of a rest day.  There has got to be some "perk' for those teams finishing at the top in the regular season.

They get to play one less game, that’s advantage enough.

I think that tomorrow (in addition to beating Creighton) we root for Butler and Providence, those outcomes would give us sole possession of 6th (I think).

But we gotta beat Creighton.  If we do then things might start to get interesting.

Think we want Xavier to beat providence. We control our fate with them in the standings regardless and we need our road win to look as good as possible and our possible home win with them as well. If they lose at prov before getting swept by us, they may plummet #s wise. Of course they are a team we could potentially jump, bubble wise but I think sweeping them would be a good enough case.

Real Providence advantage for BE tournament is because of an odd number of teams they do not play on the last Saturday of the regular season-they will have a week off to prepare for BE tournament

Conversely, too much time off can break momentum and your edge. In particular if you are already assured of making the NCAA tournament.

Thats the only question i had about stubblefield.  Looks like he can recruit.  Depaul is going to be a force in the big east under him.

Double tech on out of control Hurley with under five minutes left in first half. Love the fact that the refs will not take any of his antics.
