Around the Big East

DePaul could have done us a big favor last Night if they beat SH at home .  They had the game in their hands on the last 2 possessions and didn’t call any timeouts .  Freeman- Liberty had a good game with 20 second half points .  But , put up 2 awful shots on those last possessions .  It cost them .        Of course , they will now play lights out against us next time on their Court .   Beware the Demons .

Liberty had a great look for the final shot of the game.  He just missed it.

Georgetown  lrewarded Patrick Ewing with a contract extension following last season's run to the Big East Tournament title and the NCAA Tournament, multiple sources told FanDuel.

Exact terms of the extension and how much of it is guaranteed is still unknown.

Oof, that's rough.  Even with a contract extension it's going to be really hard to justify retaining Ewing if he goes winless in conference play in his 5th year.  He hasn't had a winning conference record in 5 years, best he's done is 9-9.  If Ewing just wins 4-5 games in conference this year he would have been fine and got at least another year based on his BE tournament run last year.

Just shows how good conference is this year.  Any team 1-10 has the ability to beat each other on any given night.  DePaul almost beat Seton Hall on the road last night.  Georgetown is the only team you can circle down as a win, and even them, they will give you a little scare.

Hoping there's a nice collapse by Butler against PC, to keep room between us in the standings.

Without Durham, Butler can beat providence in its own game. Can prov speed the game up enough to come back from 15 in second half?

As with any extension the buyout is what is important not the number of years added.

And once Gtown decided to bring him back they needed to extend him he was entering last year of contract.  Suicide to allow a lame duck coach especially wrt recruiting.

The issue is will he step down? Sure doesn't sound like he will.

Crazy that PC has no timeouts left with more than 13 minutes left in game.

Damn this providence team is something. Tough shot after tough shot to eventually force OT.

If this game impacts our position in the standings, we have bigger problems to worry about

This is the same Providence team that was nearly perfect from the FT line against SJU.

Today, not so much.

PC's troubles on free throw line almost killed them against butler.

Didn't help that their best foul shooter who lives at the line at the end of games didn't play today.

Creighton/Marquette game going back and forth today.  Creighton starters logging a lot of minutes.  Would love to see it go to OT.  Creighton can't foul /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png
