Two BE players on the Naismith list, Collin Gillespie and Justin Lewis:

Justin Lewis at this juncture is clearly the best all around front court player in the conference.and Shaka en route to become the Big East COA with arguably the best team in the conference, and yes, that includes PC. . It’s amazing what a new coach can do in one year in college basketball with 9 new players . Does it happen very often, no, but many on this and other sites would have you believe it takes years to build a program. In hoops other then football a few good studs and a good coach can turn a program around quickly.

Yes he is a good coach and has done a great job in his first year at Marquette with nine players not on the team last year and an entire roster of new players to him, yada yada.  But it has not yet been a whole season yet.  There have been coaches before who have had great first seasons at a new school or a school where they were elevated from an assistants role but it not working out afterwards.  Lets give him credit for what he is doing and he does have the potential of continuing to do it but I am not ready to say he has done the job of turning the program around for the long haul just yet.
Im not implying that he turned the program around, I am simply referring to the job he is doing this year as a first year coach of a floundering program under Wojo. Marquette even lost their best two players to Carolina and Duke this year so Shaka started from scratch, picked up more then a few 4 star recruits and a key transfer and the results have been amazing. Sweeping Nova is no easy task. Of course I am aware that an injury here and there can derail a season but again, Im simply referring to their success this year which is certainly worthy of praise.

Ugly rock fight between Xavier & UConn, 14-12 UConn w 9 minutes left. UConn has its slumps offensively but always defends.

34-31 Xavier over UConn at break w Sonogo sitting a lot of the half in foul trouble

Just such a benefit for Xavier to have a 5th year kid like Scruggs. Not a superstar but a solid player who you trust at the end of the game.

Hurley loses cool, gets technical and X leads UConn by 7 w little over 3 minutes to go

Xavier over UConn in very physical game 74-68. Xavier dominated paint points.

That baby was 1980s Big East basketball, or at least a decent replica of it.

Also, and this is neither breaking news nor something I haven't said already, Jack Nunge is a problem.

I have always liked Scruggs, he is just tough.  Doesn't always produce, but is always tough. Perfect Xavier player.

Lastly, screw U Conn and their fans.

It’s a great Day anytime UCONN loses !    I wonder if Gaffney ever thinks he made a poor decision to go there ?  I believe Mullin and staff recruited him pretty well .  He’s not more than a 6!th or 7 th man at UCONN .  Likely could have been more than that here , if he came .  I could be wrong, just a thought .

Amazing the type of game Hawkins on Creighton is having vs. G'Town

Makes you wonder how many other D2 players are out there under the radar like him or Max Strauss a few years ago.

Nova vs. SH great game.  SH up by 7 with about 11 minutes left.

SH up 7 at Nova in second half. Their transfer Yetna has 11 rebounds, 4 offensive, 11 minutes to go

73-67 win for Nova over SH, great watch

At crunch time Nova won the 50/50 ball contest, a trademark

Butler putting a beat down on Marquette. What is it about Hinckle? Now I’m hoping Butler doesn’t pass us in the standings. :-o
