Around the Big East

Not sure why but I noticed several of my posts in this thread from today were deleted.

Again not sure why since it wasn't any type of personal attack or anything and in fact one specifically talked about Smart making use of the transfer portal.

Those posts, along with several others, were moved to the Anserson thread.

What does Georgetown do with Ewing?

I don't think they want to fire him.  Do they pray he resigns?
If they fired John Thompson Jr's son, they'll fire Ewing.  Nobody is safe from getting fired if results aren't there.

With that said, Ewing may get 1 more year to try to turn things around, he won BE tournament and made the NCAA tournament last year, it's been unprecedented times with covid affecting the last 3 seasons, and with the new transfer rule he had a lot of unexpected transfers.

I know most fans don't care, but all things have not been equal during the pandemic, some coaches by no fault of their own simply got dealt bad hands.  For example here, Julian having absolutely no symptoms and fully vaccinated and having to sit out vs Pitt, if Julian plays that probably a win and the NET right now is probably about 15-20 spots better than what it is now.

Just goes to show the 80’s was the best decade ever.

Ewing and Mullin were praised for being college basketball royalty and the faces of the BE, that helped build the BE into the best hoops conference in the country.

Now, they will be remembered as a pair of coaches who failed at their alma mater.

Oh, and I had hair and used a lot of gel.

Well, he's seven ft tall, 400 lbs. and angry. Would you want to be the one to tell him he is fired?

With the disparity of games played, winning percentage will determine the seedlings for BE Tourney

Creighton looking like SJ on offense, trail SH by 21-3

Must be "The Hall"s alternate uniform.

I think we're the only team without an alt look.

SH 37-16 at half over Creighton, Warren Buffett just tweeted “McDermott- Is he really the guy”

Seems to me we've got to be rooting for Hall in this one. Would leave Hall at 5-6 & Creighton at 5-5 and us within close reach of both for 6th place if we win tomorrow.

Nova about to go down to Marquette for the 2nd time this season
Shaka Smart running roughshot through the big east in year 1 with all new players.  Makes CMA fumbling through season 3 look even worse.

When posted in another thread on this board that Shaka Smart was the second best coach in the conference I got a ton of pushback. People had Hurley over him, what has Hurley accomplished? Shaka is the the second best coach in this conference next to Jay Wright. A phenomenal hire by Marquette and he’s a hometown kid.
Here is a question for you.  If the Marquette job wasnt open but ours was, and we pursued smart, would he be coaching St johns today?

I’m not sure to be honest. It would depend on which had more draw for him, coaching his hometown team that he grew up rooting for or coaching in New York City. It’s a toss up.

Anyone know why Gillespie and Moore are not playing for Nova?  At least Gillespie was in for most of the game.

Moore injured this week but likely for next game

Nova beats UCONN handily w/o Justin Moore. Shot 59% from the floor 54% from three and 96% from the line (21-22). Let's hope they cool off for us!

UConn struggling a bit lately  on offensive side many times. They played tough OOC schedule but to me are quite beatable and lack a go to scorer. SJ likely loses to Nova but like our chances v UConn
